Just when I thought I knew . . . .

which car I wanted to buy next, I see a black E500 4Matic; a white A8; a silver E350; a black XJ8 VDP; and a black CLK55 at the hotel we stayed at this past weekend. Now I'm all confused. That is all. BTW, the first night there, parked in front was an Aston DB9, new Jag XK (or whatever it's called), 911 Turbo 'vert, S65, SL55, 430 and a Maybach. That's some nice hardware.

A good friend of mine who resides out of Atlanta was transporting a Jag XK to a client and needed to store it in my garage over a weekend. For the short period it lasted, it was nice coming into my garage and seeing that Jag parked there...instead of the Accord I had at the time.

I am not a big Jag fan but that is a sweet ride.....as well as all of the other rides mentioned above. (NOTE: I have been doing some preliminary research on the W211 E500 as a replacement for my 02 Maxima and they seem to have much more favorable preowned pricing versus that of the equivalent E39 BMW 540i.)

the new xk definitly does look nice. i saw the coupe and also the convertible both in that light blue color in NYC while cruising down henry hudson parkway.

they sure look alot like aston martins. well, obviously since its designed by the same designer, but still, the lines are damn beautiful.

i also saw two DB9's and a vantage V8. that baby aston looks freakin stunning! i know that the DB9s were always beautiful but i doubted the baby aston was going to look that great. but the way those lines flow, and those crazy LED headlamps look.. oh god.. looks like a freakin concept car.

i actually have a few pics.. im gonna get my camera and post some up. parking garages in manhattan are probably the best places to see nice cars.

what car did you want to buy next?

Of those cars, i would prob get a benz for quality issues. I wouldn't want a ford, DB9 is hot though.

Benz and quality over the past 5 years has been a joke. If anything, Porsche and initial quality is the top of the heap in the above list.

The Gideon Putnam Hotel in Saratoga Springs during Travers Week (Grade I horse racing). Place drips cash during race season.

^^ That explains a lot. Saratoga Springs is defintely full of the "money" crowd during the Travers Stakes. (My daughter was working at resort in the Adirondacks during the Summer so the wife/I spent some time in the Saratoga Springs area.)

Thank you.

Back on August 5, the wife and I tried to get a room at the Garden Inn (Hilton) in Saratoga Springs and they wanted $429/night!! Needless to say, we stayed at a Hampton Inn in Cohoes ($119/night).

429 a night? That place has no personality does it? Gideon all the way, just have to reserve your room right now for next August.

The Garden Inn is a fairly decent Hilton hotel...typically for business travelers. Unfortunately, it appears that it is listed as 'unavailable' for the weekend of Aug 4-5 (2007).

The Gideon just may be the way to go.

take your clubs and play either Saratoga Spa State Park (55), McGregor (private but open to public during race season) or Saratoga Natn'l (175/round). Sometimes the bellmen at the Gideon have rounds for sale at Natn'l and you can save some $$$ that way.

Sounds like a typical day in certain parts of Long Island. There's a damn Aston, Maybach & Porsche dealership within 3 miles of my job. Plus there's a brand new RR Phantom sitting in the front lot of the Aston dealer.

I agree, they did get rated number one by someone for least amount of problems for new cars. I just said benz because it seemed a little more practical.

Personally, I hate Saratoga this time of year....

...as for the car, I thought you wanted a 4 door? which would rule out the CLK(I would be more inclined to get the previous gen CLK then the current one, fwiw) Have you thought about a CLS? Sleek and sexy, not the biggest interior, but a great looking car that is not to common. I know you have been hot on the A8, but the new ones just don't do it for me. Have you thought about the new LS460? it should be a tour de force of technology and luxury.

I love the CLS but that's too much cake, even used. I like the sound, no, LOVE the sound of the new 460. Great acceleration, big quiet, luxurious ride all w/ top-notch build quality I do want a 4 door though. I'll keep the Acura for a while before I buy something else. Maybe 1-2 more years then give it to my niece for her 16th.
