someone i know recently totalled his 07 GT3 at Road America... he was pretty new to the car and probably shouldn't have taken it there.. those cars are shaky at/near the limit in the wrong hands, for sure.

That video is old news, I think that was from the super car shoot out. People say Porsches don't suffer from the lift off/snap oversteer like they used to, but its still a common complaint, no matter how much suspension tweaking they do, no matter how much stagger they set up with the tires, the engine is in the wrong effing spot! The balance of the car is off and physics will take over when at the limits, which every car has. That said, I don't drive at the limit, and love Porsches because everything before the limit is sublime.

It's certainly not a new video, the best part is after being into the wall it was still faster than the Audi R8. Porsche, there is no substitute still rings true. And by no means is Clarkson a fool, even the stig has put cars into the wall, it's inevitable when trying to film cars at their limits, your not pushing hard enough if you don't hit the wall once and awhile, especially when it's not YOUR car.

The GT3 or the GT3 RS are as close to a Porsche racecar as you can get. They are designed to be crazy tight and have incredible handling, but these cars are definitely not forgiving once you push them to their extreme limits.
They take out the forgiveness which you may ordinarily have in a regular 911 and let you drive it to a point, where engineering can no longer defy physics...
so what if Clarkson hits the wall, it happens to the best of them. It is not gonna stop Porsche from sending him more cars for his show...

Highs: Blistering performance, incredible refinement, as easy to drive as a VW New Beetle.
Lows: Likes to wag its tail when you lift off the gas, not as exciting as a 911 GT3.
The Verdict: The supreme supercar when conditions underfoot get tricky.

Indeed, yet understanding that the tail wag in the new Turbo and the violent lift off oversteer of the old torsion bar cars are two very very different things.
One you can catch with some counter steer, the other snaps you around and hammers you into the guardrail.
