You just need to know how to drive it. It is an absolute beast to control, but once you get it right, it is amazing on the track-one of the better handling vehicles out there.

Not having traction control, or skid control, or any other kind of electronic nanny on the car, is one of the reasons that I bought mine. It is raw performace at its best. Traction control is your right and left foot. This car is so much more fun to drive because it does NOT have traction control.

ATXCLS, how many track days have you done in the viper? Any pics of it on the track?

One track weekend. More planned for next year. I just hate the idea of tearing up the paint . . . I know, I know . . .

the brakes a fine - in fact their one aspect about the viper thats brilliant. Its the fact that the overall car lacks a measure of finesse, cohesiveness and fluidity present in a good sports car such as the Z4M or Boxster S that lets it down at the track in terms of setting the fastest lap time.

But honestly who cares. Viper = uttely astonishingly badass. I'd probably take a Viper over a Z06, even though a Z06 should school the viper more often than the viper would beat out the Z06 in a track situ. The Viper is

But with 100% effort, the Viper is quite a capable machine.
With competent drivers in both vehicles, I don't think it would even be close. Yes, the viper is hard to drive, but that doesn't mean that it isn't capable - just gotta be in the right hands.

Search the name I posted above. The guy who drove the Viper is a pro driver with something like 30 years experience. He has a racing school at Willow. For him to not be able to hit the line shows clearly that this video was staged. If you look at the times for Willow, the 1.41 time they state is very slow. A well driven SRT should be almost 5-8 seconds faster PER LAP.

Oh and the traction control comment is false. I've driven my buddies SRT Viper hard on many occasions and if you can feel what the car is doing, it's just like any car. You have to respect the power, like any other vehicle in that class.

Thanks I'm aware, I actually had a Viper GTS and do have a GC SRT8.
