Started on the exhaust today. It's a full-custom one-off 3" mendrel bent turbo-back with 3" magnaflow cat and SINGLE 3" polished magnaflow SS turbo muffler.

Still no clutch, supposedly Spec built me an "updated" unit, so they didn't ship it out until last Wednesday. UPS scheduled delivery is Monday, so I'll hopefully have it in before the weekend (working intermittently throughout the week after work).

I hope to have the exhaust 75% done by the end of the day tomorrow, I can't build the downpipe until the trans is back in the car D: So many fvking things being put at a standstill by the clutch

Join the club. My clutch is on back-order, hopefully I get an update on Monday. Its slowing down my build.

Your exhaust looks good, but I wouldve tucked the muffler up allittle more.

The car still looks good, even on jackstands

Super annoying waiting on shtuff. Ah well, I guess that's how things go. What're you up to with your build?
The muffler is absolutely as high as it can be. The tip is a few mm away from the rear lip, and the body is level to the ground. Just keep in mind you're seeing it at eyelevel, which it will never be, cuz the car is slammed. It's more tucked than my duals were

Missed this one, sorry bud. The MDX crank/rods combined with the machined RL pistons are what got me the extra .1 liter. 3.6L is just an estimate of the displacement, it may be slightly less

I always loved the 6th gens. That's still one of my projects in the back of my mind, a sexy, fast 6th gen. You've done both!

Damn. My thread is a ghost town, lol.

And there it is. Mmm for a fully garage-built 3" mendrel-bent turbo-back exhaust.
New downpipe, tacked together but complete:
Name: accord496.jpg
Views: 493
Size: 114.9 KB
Name: accord498.jpg
Views: 522
Size: 116.4 KB

Magnaflow metal catalyst spun cat with new 3" 3-bolt flanges tacked. The goal was to have a fully removable/replaceable cat that mated the exhaust and the downpipe:
Name: accord499.jpg
Views: 550
Size: 110.8 KB
Name: accord500.jpg
Views: 500
Size: 133.3 KB

Cat bolted to new downpipe:
Name: accord504.jpg
Views: 524
Size: 107.5 KB

Completed downpipe. Fully welded v-band flange and 3" 3-bolt flange as well as two O2 bungs for wideband and narrowband:
Name: accord510.jpg
Views: 507
Size: 124.7 KB

Completed exhaust. Note the third O2 sensor as well as the 3-piece design for easy removal/replace:
Name: accord511.jpg
Views: 513
Size: 137.4 KB
Name: accord512.jpg
Views: 499
Size: 120.8 KB
Name: accord513.jpg
Views: 510
Size: 128.2 KB
The one thing I didn't take any pics of is the one-off up-pipe I fabbed up alongside building the exhaust. I wish I had, because it has an integrated mount to the starter bolt for rigidity, as well as a custom wastegate flange that directs the wastegate exhaust straight down and out.

Thanks fellas. This is going to be a terrible, terrible car once done. Watchdaheck out modded v8's. Mmm.

And civicdrivr, I was trolling around late last night and saw that you bought cls-6's turbo kit. I hope you plan to mod/replace every last part of it, both because the XS kit suggs and because joeshmo was involved. That guy...holy hack. Anyways, spill the build details. I'm really looking forward to them...

Sorry, I missed that post.

To answer your question, yes a build is involved. Its not going to be super spectacular, but its going to be something, especially with the other little odds and ends I have planned for the car as a whole.

Ill definately keep you updated though

Finish rear bumper screw relocation
Work on new oem front lip fitment
Finish s2k retro

...damn...I've still got a LOT to do...and I still have to find time to mash the car to defffffffff

looks great, but why didnt you use SS for the exhuast? I would just be affraid off all that road salt you guys have rusting out the pipes. but I guess its prob only a spring/summer car.

he made it himself, so it is not that much to replace

but also i think for making an exhaust for a car the first time, it is easier and cheaper to build it out of regular steel the first time, then you can redo it with ss at a later date, also i know ss is harder to weld or something then regular steel

SS is an unnecessary expense. If I was building a full-show car, I'd spend the extra cash, but not for a daily driver (which my car will be once finished). Also, the tubing I used is not bare steel, it's aluminized steel, specifically for exhaust applications--so it is rust protected. I also coated the welds with a high-temp aluminum exhaust coating, so rust won't be a problem.

The cost is essentially the only reason I didn't go stainless. I've built several exhausts, both with stainless and aluminized, and aside from bling, there's really no reason to spend the extra $$ for stainless. As far as welding difficulty goes, it does weld hotter, so you have to be careful not to burn through it, but it's no more difficult to weld than bare steel.
