Issues at the Honda Dealer
Issues at the Honda Dealer
So, my GF takes the '04 CR-V to the dealer yesterday to get a couple of things checked out. The list of things is: The glove box rattles, the driver side window rattles and the car idles rough when the A/C fan comes on. I wasn't there when she went over all of this stuff so I'll tell you guys what she told me.
Here's the story:
After awhile they bring the car out to go over what they have/ haven't done. They fixed the glove box rattle
But they tell her that the window rattle is something that they can't fix. The service guy tries to blame the rattle on the after market window tint and some tweeters that were installed the day before. He doesn't budge on the window rattle that only affects the driver side window. He tells her that she's lucky the Odysseys are worse. Next, the rough idle comes up. The service guys blames the rough idle on the new muffler that was installed 2 weeks ago. The rough idle has been going on for a while now. So, I know that it's not that causing the problem. When she told me I was like WTF was this guy smoken???
So, what action can I take to get the dealer's ass in gear? I plan to head down there when I off next week and have some words. Plus, the GF filed a complaint against the service guy because he was a complete dick. Other than that does anyone have any suggestions? The issues aren't too big a deal just annoyances at this point but still they’re things that should be under warranty. Thx for the help. -jr

Well if the car is under warranty, then I think that adding the aftermarket stuff might void it. If you aren't voiding the warranty, then I would try to talk with them like you said and investigate the problems more. Unfortunately, they blame the problems on the aftermarket stuff...it happened to me too.
Isn't there a law that states they have to prove the issue is a DIRECT result of the aftermarket equipment? I am about 99% sure there is. (window rattle may be an issue with speaker but don't see how muffler could cause any issues)
AKA if I put a muffler on and my suspension goes to hell they can't deny the claim. DO a search on google for it.

Just tell him the teh rough idle was there before the mufflers were installed. I think a lot has to do with your gf. They just told her a bunch of crap and they new she wasn't going to say anything. Maybe just try a different dealer.

http://www.ravelco.com/magnusonmossact.htm
I'm aware of the magnuson-moss act but what pisses me off is the fact that the service guy didn't even check out the problem. It was like he saw the muffler and immediately that was the cause. Same went for the tint/ tweeters. It just sound like he was a lazy POS. I think we'll try the other dealership here is town. I do think that if she was a man that she would have been treated differently. In this day and age that is some serious BS.
