Isn't a TL a little more on par with a 5 series BMW.. sizewise

Isn't a TL a little more on par with a 5 series BMW.. sizewise

The 3 series is actually quite a bit smaller.....

It would seem like it...and the RL would be on par w/ the 7. But the CL and TL are practically the same size.

Wouldn't it make sense for BMW to have a 5 and 7 series coupe also?

yah i agree..i use to have a E36 model 325i and it is small and the new e46...3 series is smaller than E36 model..i can feel...5 series is a bit roomier but not as big as tls..i guess..so how do u feel..i have test driven a new E39 ..540i a year ago..it is powerful ...but the rear seats are a bit tight.....

My roomate has a 740i. I was surprised when I parked next to him that my CL-S is slightly longer, and wider. I don't remember who was taller though.

That is because of the proportions. BMW's have very long wheelbases and short overhangs.

Overall proportions are exclusive, and not inclusive of overhangs and wheelbase dimensions.

Yes, in comparison to the 540, my CL-S does have longer overhangs, and similar if not a longer wheelbase . Albeit the overhand consists of largely empty space for aerodynamic purposes specially in the front. The rear overhang is just for the cosmetic rounder look (which I prefer).

Overall, the CL-S's dimensions are larger than the 540.
