I don't get it???

It SEEMS as though stock for stock, a CL-S should hand an IS300 its ass all day long. However, after reading SOME racing stories on here, and PLENTY on the is300 forums, it seems that (stock for stock) its a drivers race...even though the 01-02 CL-S is auto. Some races have had the is300 beat the cl-s by 1-2 cars, other have the cl-s beatin the is300 by 3-4 cars, and others are damn near even? Now by magazine stats, a stock cl-s should be able to take a stock IS300 by atleast 5 cars, if you figure in their 0-60 and 1/4 times. Now if that IS true, what mods would an IS300 need to be dead even with a stock 01-02 CL-S?

these stories of is300's beating the cls by 1-2 car lengths are possible...but im still pretty doubtful..there is almost a full second difference between the quarter mile times...even if it was a manual..those is's were problably modded...or there were some crazy manual drivers in the IS..who knows

but all things said, im pretty sure the cls will pretty much pwn any stock IS

That's a point well taken Dem. Now that I think of it, the IS300 has the base MKIV motor (2JZGE?), or some iteration of it. I know that the base MKIV is good for low 14s with 5MT.

That said, I have no doubt if the IS300 motor (w/ 5MT) is "uncorked" (for lack of a better term), it's conceivable that it could hold it's own against a CLS 6MT.

CL-S easy. Unless the IS300 is turbo or SC it doesn't stand a chance.

A member here with an IS300 5-manual ran about a 14.8 at the track, had pics and the time slip. They aren't a drag car anymore than the CL. The IS300 does handle very well.

With just those mods on the IS i'd expect the CLS to take the victory.

My friend Jared, before he wrecked his 01 CL-S, beat a guy once in a IS300. Both cars were stock I believe. I know because my friend Mike who was in the passenger seat, was egging the IS300 guy on like there was no tommorow. I think the IS300 guy got mad cuz Mike yelled out the window as he pulled up , "Yo shit is slooooooooooooow!!!" I wasn't there but that's what Mike says...

Now the IS330 is a different story.

Rumor has it that the 2G IS will have a 3.3L V6 (i.e.: Camry, ES330 & RX330). As far as I know its just a rumor.

Oh and seeing as the IS mentioned in this thread is automatic, smart money's on the CL in this race. Ram Air and Catback wont be enough for the IS to overcome the CL in acceleration.

Peace.

CL-S will own it all day long. No chance the IS300 can keep up. I've driven both and in terms of acceleration the IS will be smoked everyday of the week.

Unless Lexus is taking aim at the S4 and C55(NYIAS?), I doubt this will hit production.
