Interesting water injection article

Came across these articles after going through a few sets of links. They are pretty old, but sort of interesting.

I wonder how the effects would be on a more modern car.

I think its already used on FI cars for race applications. Its not really water injection, its methanol. It essentially is an octane booster.

Water and alcohol injection were fairly common in the 50's and 60's on turbo-charged engines as an aid in preventing detonation.

It's quite common on turbo cars, allows you to run substantially higher boost than would otherwise be possible on pump gas since it is used to supress detonation. It's the next mod I'm doing in a month or so.
