Interesting email from my Acura dealership

Dear Loyal Customer:

My name is John Spofford and I am the General Sales Manager of David McDavid Acura of Austin. I have been presented with a special opportunity. David McDavid Acura is celebrating the anniversary of our 18th year in business, and we couldn't have made it this far without you - our loyal customers.

We decided that the best way to show our appreciation is to offer something that hasn't been offered by our dealership before, something to let our customers know that you are greatly appreciated.

From now through February 1st, 2005 we are offering you your choice of any new Acura or pre-owned vehicle including certified models for our "employee price." Our special in-house pricing structure is designed specifically for employees and their family members. This means you can buy any in stock unit and get the same discount as my Sales Staff, Service Manager, Office Manager, Technicians, even myself.

This is an offer that we have never made before, so you must bring this letter in with you to receive our employee price.

Also, Acura is currently offering many financing alternatives. This opportunity is in addition to our employee pricing. You will still receive all the best Acura has to offer. For example, Acura's 4 year/ 50,000 mile warranty, free car washes with purchase from David McDavid Acura, free courtesy transportation and much more.

If you have a trade-in, don't worry! Bring in your payment book or title and we'll make sure you get the highest possible trade value.

We want to keep you as a lifetime customer, so I hope you are able to take advantage of this great opportunity! Please call William Laurain, my Business Development Manager, at 866-287-7255 to set up an appointment that is convenient for you.

Sincerely,

John Spofford
General Sales Manager

My question would be if they get vehicles at invoice. I'm sure he does. I'm sure you won't.

Go check it out. This letter makes me curious, that's for sure. I just don't want a new car. Not right now.

RSX-S isn't really worth the 24k they're asking for. Now for around 18-19k...that peaks my interest.

When DMD was the only Acura dealer in Austin they really sucked ass. Back in 2000 when I bought my CL-S I got it for more than $2000 less than DMD wanted by buying it in Houston.

That's so true. They have improved. I was so glad to see Sterling Acura open. I even went a few times for service, but DMD stepped it up, so I don't have to drive all the way to S. Austin anymore. Competition is great!
