Info on G35 Sedan

My G/F wants a G35 Sedan (selling her 99TL). With Premium pkg, sport pkg, and Nav (auto), the best quote she's gotten is $32,780. She'd take the 1.9% 3 loan (available through Sept. 2), add about $5,000 cash, and have a $400/mo. payment. Any experience with options, prices, the G35 Sedan, would be appreciated. Also, she wants to sell her TL privately. It only has 30,000 and is in mint cond. Hopefully she'd get better than $18 for it vs. maybe $15 in trade. Any thoughts on that? Thanks.

BTW, I test drove it yesterday. With the sport pkg, that car is a monster for the money.

I can promise you, most responses will be "wait for the '04 TL".

The G sedan is a great car for the money and the competition right now is hard pressed to beat it.

Believe me, we've thought about it. But right now they're really marking down the '03's and offering great financing. We figured that we'd end up paying something like $5k more for the new TL, which may or may not be better???

And that's a good point. You could probably get a NEW '03 TL for quite a bargain with the '04s right around the corner.

I have a G35 sedan, I recommend your girlfriend to get the one without sport package. Your girlfriend is not you, you are used to the CL-S sport suspension feeling, but she used to drive a 99 TL, which is much more comfortable than a TYPE S. Therefore, she might not like the noiser cabin and shakier ride in the long run. But I am not her, this is just my opinion and my prediction.

We both test drove the sport and the regular. She really likes the sport. One of the reasons she wants to change cars is that she wants the better handling and addtional power for her 60/miles/day freeway commute. I was amazed at how well the sport pkg on the G35 Sedan handles little bumps without creating a harsh ride. It felt pretty similiar to my CL-S. Thanks for the thought. I was worried about that too.

Oh good. By the way, I just did a quick check on the price you told us in the first thread

Leather 4-door sedan, automatic: $29650(MSRP);$26857(dealer invoice)

Premium package: $3200(MSRP);$2757(dealer invoice)

Sport tuned suspension package: $425(MSRP);$366(dealer invoice)

Navigation system: $2000(MSRP);$1805(dealer invoice)

Total: $35275(MSRP);31785(dealer invoice)

This does not include $545 destination charge.

So your girlfriend is paying $2495 under MSRP and only $995 above dealer invoice, cheap enough. Tough to beat that in my opinion. But the price quote I gave here is 2003 model, don't know what the 2004 is. Is your girlfriend getting the 2004? If so, there is a new color called Diamond Graphite for sedan, looks very good. What your girlfriend's color is? Sorry for the question I am just so excited to know about people buying G35 sedan, I am too nosy huh?:P

G35 sedan is a sweet car. My brother has one...2003.5, sport, aero, winter. Handles great...better than my 2003 CL-S...also very powerful. Thin sheet metal though and the CD changer is slow...the 2004 G is supposed to have it fixed with a newer radio (will probably look the same, but faster). Oh yeah, the clock is hard to see, especially at night.

She's wants the 03 in Desert Platinum with Willow intererior. No great deals on the 04's and no 1.9% financing. Best as we can tell, nothing new of any importance in the 04s.

not true...

I took a test drive this weekend on the G35 sedan...Fast car although I dont know if faster than my CLS----close though.
The 04 G35 will be available with ALL wheel drive. I consider that to be a pretty major change...I am torn on the G35 myself...I can get the car for invoice thru my company so I would probably go with a 2004. I am not sure if I love it though...only reason I am considering is because a baby is on the way...I may go with a used A4...being audi doesnt like to negotiate much.

Anything is negotiable.

And in this used car market, the buyer has a HUGE advantage.

Hey, Scrib, why does the buyer have a HUGE advantage in the current used car market? You talking about the new car buyer or the used car seller or both?

Okay, so what do you guys think the 04 TL's will be going for? Right now we can grab the G35 for 32,780 (maybe even less) with 1.9% financing. I'm thinking that the difference between end of year close out prices and hot new car prices (without super low interest financing) could be as much as five grand? And I'm really wondering -- will the new TL be a significantly hotter car than the G35? Won't be RWD like the G which is nice. Don't get me wrong, I love Acura and love my CL-S, but that G sure was a sweet ride.

If you like the G, go with it. The TL looks nice, but it will have the typical FWD limitations. You live in So Cal, so you won't have to worry about snow. For the price you are getting for the G, it's a great deal. The TL will be more expensive than the current TL, I am guessing mid to high 30's

Used car buyer...

Since the new car market is so incentive laced, the used cars aren't moving all that well. You see soooo many used cars on the lots because you can get a new car for with 0% interest and huge discounts.

So if the new cars are being discounted and laced with incentives, the used cars better be that much more attractive to buy.

I'm sure that if it does have AWD they'll charge plenty for it as an option. That's one thing I don't like about Infiniti -- the way you have to buy all the option pkgs -- With Acura it's simple, Navi or no Navi.

I still think the G35 coupe looks better. I'm hoping the sedan will be bumped up to 280 just like the coupe so that I can be more practical when I buy. I just love that coupe though.
