Infiniti FX
Infiniti FX
Yesterday I stopped by infiniti to check out the FX to see if it might be a viable purchase.
To keep a long story short it's sad that they put nice speed performance into it but shit for brakes. The damn salesman actually said to expect 10k before needing new brakes. "It's fast like a g35 but remember it weighs more so the brakes take more abuse."
Obviously I was dealing with a putz, but the worst part is the Tech package. I can not believe how shitty the navigation system is. It had a nintendo-esque lay out and the screen was so small I couldnt wait to get back in the TL.
Overall I could not own one because the damn thing needs beefier breaks and a tech package that you dont need to squint to see.
(Certainly spoiled by the TL)

Cut the TL screen in half vertically, flip it to make it horizontal, and it's about the size of the FX. NO JOKE. At least the part that is the actual Nav. If you notice it has the heater and temp shit in there, and it actually takes up the screen that should be entirely Navi. If they didnt do that it may be similiar in size, but the actual viewability of the nav is literally a little bigger than half of the TL.

Here's a little information:
TL screen is 8"
FX screen is 7"
TL screen is entirely Navigation
The FX screen loses about 20% of its size to the temp settings.
That is a HUGE difference in comparison to the TL Nav, especially considering the screen is also further away from you.

The '06 FX will look more like the M35/45 interior...that little joystick sucks ass, I had it on my FX, and have it on my G35x. The brakes aren't horrible, but they do wear down quickly, or so i've been told. The G35 has brakes covered under warranty for that reason, not sure if it's the same with the FX.

Look at the lower 20-25% of the pre '06 screen, it has the climate control there. The new one doesnt. All the new one does is the same as the TL, a grayed out area in front of the navi that states what road you are on.

The salesman actually bashed his own product?
I still love the FX....
