I'm thinkin' about getting a F-150 4x4 for a daily driver...
They offering up to $6,000 cash back and 0 apr for 60 months.... and I've got some pull at my local dealer.

I have a 1996 Accord 2 door....its fine, but I've been driving my GFs Explorer and I like driving in something big....and I can't afford an Escalade. So I was thinking that I could atleast get $4-5K for the Accord...take $2k out of pocket and put $6-7K down...

If you can afford the extra gas cost, then go for it. I personally would get a new Silverado since it comes with a better warranty and looks better

That was uncalled for...
We had a rental on our trip through the Canadian Rockies... It was a VERY comfortable truck, it drove great and went everywhere we told it to (trust me 
)

Damn nice trucks. I had a 2001 5.4L Triton, 4x4, XLT. I loved it and never had one single problem with it. Sadly, it saw it's last few moments on the highway when I fell asleep at the wheel at 75-80mph and slammed it into a gaurdrail with the front drivers side. That truck was a tank and it likely saved my life. I walked away with nothing but a bleeding finger and a life lesson. If you saw the pics, you'd never know I was going that fast when it made impact.

Not that it's my business, but since you posted it all for us to know ---- Weren't you just complaining a few months ago that you haven't had a raise in a few years and you weren't pleased with that since the cost of living is higher? Also, weren't you upset last month cuz your condo fees and/or taxes just went up? Yet, you are financially comfortable enough to purchase a new car, especially one that'll suck down gas? Could very well be, but that was just a fleeting thought. Carry on.

We have a bunch of mountains around where I live that are set up for offroaders among many other things. Several times I have rented trucks and taken them to have a little fun. Last time I went, a couple months ago, I got a new fully loaded F-150. It wasn't a terrible truck but I personally like GM better. Even better still was the Tundra I took up there back near the beginning of the year. It was a bare bones nothing Tundra, and it rode awesome. My bet would be on the new Tundra. That is going to be one wicked truck.

you went from an accord, to your girlfriends explorer and now you want a F-150? unless you have a need to carry very large things in the bed of the truck or use it for work (also to carry large things) then a truck serves no purpose other than to waste everyone else's gas. also, are you really going to be towing something weighing more than 5000 pounds? there are plently of smaller SUVs out there that can tow more than 4000 pounds and get better gas mileage and wont make you look like a hick doing it.

Throughout the years I've had a number of trucks on the farm from various manufacturers. All of them have had their advantages and problems. The least troublesome, however, have always been the Fords. Can't go wrong with an F150.

I can afford $300 per month. And as for why I want one....I've always had cars, I wand a 4x4. I can't afford an SUV. I can probably get a 06 leftover for like $26K and then get incentives.
And I was complaining about my taxes assesments going up....I obviviously can afford it...I just wanted to vent.

I think it's a waste of money....hell, I ALWAYS think buying new is a waste of money, but I find it especially unneccesary in this case. With that said, it's your dough...spend as you wish...

Aside from the actual choice of vehicle, do you REALLY want to take out a $16,000 loan when you already have two working cars?? I'd assume the Accord is paid off....why have to worry about car payments again?

If you have the cash, then by all means....spend it. But $300 a month is only for the truck. Add to that the extra gas, and higher insurance rates. You're probably up to about $550 a month now. If the Accord is paid for and cheap, and you have access to an SUV, my best advice would be save the cash for now.

I kind of agree with everything said in here, including the "it's your money" bit. However, considering the depreciation of a new vehicle, and it sounds to me like you'd almost rather have an SUV, you just can't really afford one, I would go used.
You seem like a person that doesn't keep cars forever so why bother buying something brand new? Look around at some used SUV's first before you take a dive off the deep end.

It sounds like you're only considering this because you can get a great deal on one. Does that make it worth it? In all honestly, probably not. Especially if you just "want a 4x4 cause you've never had one". For someone who would rarely, if ever, use a pick-up truck's bed for hauling anything, it's not the wisest thing to buy. Also, I don't know if you plan on doing any offroading with it but if you do, thats not the right vehicle to do it in. Nice trucks? Absolutely. But again, not worth it unless you've got things to haul on a regular basis. You can find a nice SUV for less than you're even planning to finance this new truck for AFTER you lay money down.

Look at BEET, he bought a Wrangler (which is a TON more fun than an F-150, I promise you), and Ravi just got a pretty nice Pathfinder with all the bells and whistles.
