Lamborghini Countach. My bodywork guy has two Lambos he's taken down to cali and won best of show and people choice awards on. Pretty sweet rides. His love is his 86 Countach.

E30 M3
E36 M3 but only with the Evo motor
M1 MR layout with the tasty 500hp V10
Lotus Elan
Last but definately NOT least the Dino! Lets see a pure sex body, with a 360hp 3.2 V6 based on the F430 V8 and a proper prancing pony on the hood this time and a price tag right on the century mark.

You might well be surprised.
In any event IMHO the original posters intent was not cleared up in as much as you failed to provide a coherent distinction in your two choices and failed to link the third statement directly to either of the two previously. A better attempt at literacy on your part such as providing examples directly linked to each of your choices would have allowed those that use comprehension of English as a basis for divining your intent as opposed to those that use a crystal ball.
"This one...
Which car can you bring back today, with modern styling/modern features that you think will do aswell as it did "back in the day"..."
I think if you take a moment and dig deep into your well of literacy and comprehension you will realize this statement with no further delineation is just as vague as the original post.
In the end people answered this post in the manner in which they interpreted the question, and I do understand your desire to clarify and direct the post. It often grates on me when people post answers to a thread that ignore the framework laid by the initial poster, however your own attempts to clarify the post underline the initial post was indeed vague. However, your attempt to clarify lacked any additional precision, at least in the written version, thus I answered in the way I interpreted the post. In answering I used the initial post over-layed against the current state of the automotive industry where retro is a buzzword worth exploring, which I rightly or wrongly saw as the genesis of the query. The retro movement is not exclusive to legacy names but also covers in use names that harken back to earlier generations of that model for inspiration. An example of this would be the Mustang, though the name was never out of use the most recent generation is based most directly on the Gen. 1/2 versions. In this light I saw/see the E30 and E36 iterations of the M3 as distinctly different from the E46 and feel that a new modern version with the "character" of the E30 and to a lesser extent the E36 would be a significantly different car from the E90/92 M3 and thus felt that it met the framework laid by the original post.
Finally, I do understand that post whorin' is hard work and further understand the need to keep your Daddy paid so he doesn't pimp slap you back out on the stroll.

I think he's referring to the Euro Spec E36 M3, which had a ~321hp 3.2L Inline 6. (I could be wrong but, I think it's still the quickest/fastest M3 ever produced.)

I posted a question to further clarify the original posters intent of this thread, and the original poster replied with a very clear answer as to what he what he meant.
The M3 is still in production...whether it is the highly rare EVO engine or not. There is a still a car on the road today badged M3.
All he did was write long statement in high english vernacular to sound like scholar. What it really did was dance around the issue that the intent of the thread HAD been clairfied, not in the original post, but later on when the specific question was posed.

Big Block go VROOOM!
'67 Chevelle, because I've always wanted one.
I'm not even going to label it. For my money, the most beautiful car ever made...
If you don't know what it is, your car enthusiast license should be revoked.

Here are the two options you gave to clarify this issue:
OK...question to the thread starter.
Are we saying "What car can we bring back from the dead...any make/model"
Or are we saying " what dead car can we bring back from the dead into a modern status"
If you think these two statements are clear and precise and help differentiate between the two concepts in your mind you are mistaken. You should never call someone's abilities into question when yours are sorely lacking. For there to be comprehension there first must be a precise and coherent statement to comprehend, you failed in your attempt to clarify the issue so just accept it and get back on the stroll. I am not going to do anything further to disrupt this thread and will assume if you do then your intention was never truely to get the thread on track but simply to rack up the posts and/or be contentious.
PS "high english (sic) vernacular" makes little if any sense, unless you meant it as an oxymoron then it makes no sense in the context you used it, as I said comprehension requires statements that are comprehendible!

you win sire. I don't really care about post count anymore, I was serious in trying to hold a framework to this thread.
As far as my typing..I'm lazy, sloppy, and dont care enough to proof read...its not that I am incapable of proper grammar.

Been thinking about your choice of the ultimate Goat, mainly because I have been starting at that one trying to determine which version it was. I must agree that it is one of the most beautiful cars if not the most. But with all the (OK my) discussion about the intent of the thread it hit me that one could argue it didn't do that well "back in the day". It did great in competition but they only built 39, I guess it depends on your definition of well. As for determining the exact iteration, it is a 3L car since the 4 had the huge power bulge, my guess based on the 2 verticals and a couple of other points it is a '62. Plus if you want to really stretch it the GTO can really see its line of progeny through the 288 GTO, F40, F50 and Enzo.
Another car I think belongs on this list is the E type, but one could make the argument it is still represented in some form today as well.

I personally miss the Prelude. The H22 motor was great.
I know we have the TSX now but it's a 4 door plus it doesn't offer AWD. plus up until the last generation it was one of Honda's better looking cars. I didn't like the big square headlights.

Only joking, I think that was a nice move on your part. Shows that you know the value of things...
The hot swap for the pinto guys is the 2.3L turbo motor out of the Merkur...
Sacho, you must have heard about Joe Morgan's 10.75 second Pinto before... I don't know what Joe is doing now, but it's probably ford related...
If anyone cares, I've got the Joe Morgan Pinto Hot Rod Mag article scanned...
10 seconds for $7K...

I still moderate the Pinto Yahoo group, but I don't spend as much time as I should on the fordpinto.com forums...
I'd love to have a 1976 Pinto 2.3L 4spd coupe (the one with a trunk, not a hatch)... Even tho' I had a bunch of pinto wagons back in the day...
