Ideas for a used car $10k to $12k?

My sister totalled her car over the weekend and she is looking for a replacement. Something preferable newer then 2000, and something that will be reliable but fun for a girl.

Thanks!

hyundai tiburon. they're very reliable and fun and a 2003-up can easily be had for $12k or less.

same story with the celica. plus, i only see girls driving them so it'd be good for your sister.

Mazda 3...But it doesn't rate very well for crash safety.

My ex got a 2004 Mazda3 hatch fully loaded (leather, navi) last year for less than $14k.

I'd imagine one without as many options could be picked up in that range.

Just did a quick search. Yes you should be able to pick up a Mazda3 Hatch with 40k miles for $12k.

The Hatch is the one she'd want. It's so practical having that extra room back there. It's not quite a wagon but I was impressed with how much stuff we could fit in there. Plus all of the hatchbacks come with the 2.3L motor. The 2.0L is soooooo slow. That may not be important to her but when it comes to accident avoidance and highway passing I couldn't see myself driving a car with such little horsepower.

98+ Acura Integra GSR. Reliable and very fun. You can get a nice one for the price you're willing to shell out.

Mazda3 would be my choice. It's a newer styled car and has proven itself.

CLS 6spds with around 100K can be had for that price... like this one:

https://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/sold-fs-2003-acura-cl-s-6-speed-manual-%2412-995-%2Alots-pics%2A-364657/

Can't go wrong with a used civic either...

nothing against you or the seller, but for $13K, there are plenty of cars out there his sister could have with half that mileage.

plus, fiftyfive said she doesn't want another honda and also wants an auto.

Yea, she actually just totalled a civic and hated every minute of it when she owned it. It does need to be an Auto so a CLs six speed is pretty much out of the question, and we're looking for something with a lot less than 100k miles. Something between 50k-70k would be more like it.

Oh, ok.. no Honda/Acura stuff... Why didn't you say she didn't want anything good in your first post

Have her buy a Dodge Neon or Ford Focus then

Mazda 3 would be tops on my list after the usual Honda products...

How about a 04-05 Sentra, they seem to be going around that price?

he already said twice that his sister didn't want a honda/acura product. it was in the post right above yours... also, there's no way it's possible to get an IS300, with 50-70k miles, for less than $12k, unless it's been in an accident.

if she'd be willing to get a little bit higher mileage car (still under 100k though), you might want to look at the Maxima. i've owned one and they're great cars and very reliable.
