I wasn't moving that aggressively. I won't even think about opening up a Automatic transmission myself. when I paid to have mine done on my 88 Accord that was 1500 bucks.
200 bucks every 80k is hell of a lot cheaper than 1500 every 200k

But otherwise, there aren't any major problems that would stop me from getting a 2006 TL 6spd manual. My old old Acura has been less expensive than my old old Toyota. Believe it or not, Acura parts are actually cheaper than parts were for my 4Runner. And the labour rate is less around here. Oil change at the Acura dealer was $29.95. At Toyota it's $35.95. I change my own oil anyway, but that's just an example. Overall, things like spark plugs have been easier to change on the Acura than on the Toyota. It seemed like on the 4Runner everything was packed in soooooo tight! Not to say I won't own another Toyota though. If I need a truck when I'm older, as my second vehicle, I'd probably buy from them if they fix that cramped engine compartment mess. I'm sure they already have.
But yeah, I have a general distrust for all automatic transmissions. It just seems that ANY auto is more prone to problems due to the complexity of the thing. Even if a clutch master cylinder cracks (like on my dad's manual 4Runner), it's cheaper than having to get a new torque converter on an auto when the fins break off or soemthing (essentially means getting a rebuild! )

I would never buy a post 1970 Ford or Chevy Car.
I'll NEVER own a Mitsubishi, Kia, Subaru, Suzuki (CAR), Hundai, or any other cheap econo-box brand.
I'd have no probs driving a New truck from any of the big three.
Honda and Toyota are my fav's

1. My first car was a trans am-POS, wires behind tach rubbed untill they became bare and started a fire & burned the car up.
2. Second car was a lincoln Mark IV which had 350 thousand on original engine & tranny when I sold it. Glove leater interior with seat & foot room that made you feel like you were sitting in a Kings chair. The only Ford I would ever buy is the Lincoln or one that has the 460 engine....best engine they ever made!
3. Ford E350 with 460-Great van for pulling a boat & 8 passengers!
4. Ford E150 hightop conversion with small block V8-POS!!
5. Various Honda Acoords-Overall great cars with a few exceptions. On the older hondas if you didnt adjust the valves youd better prepare for a expesive head job. Also on the 85-89 accords that had the Kein AC compressors that were made in the U.S., they would blow up internaly & would cost $700-800(parts only) to convert it to the Japanese system + the U.S. compressors were not able to be converted to r134a from r12; only the Japanese ones were.
6. Cadillac Fleetwood Broughm-One of the most luxurious rides in the world, though it couldnt move out of its own way, but that was because they had used a DFI small block v8 POS. You could go over the narliest railroad tracks & it would feel as though it was just some small rocks.
If I were to buy a European car it would have to be a Bentley or BMW M class only!
I currently own a TL & I love it even with its quarks.
