You make a good point. I do go through cars far too quickly for my own good. I will look into the S4, I will also have to check for other Audi dealers in the general area to see how they are.

My other concern with BMW is their so called "free maint" for 50000 miles, one oil change every 15k miles? Seems kind of crazy to me - and then I have heard a lot of stories that they don't do the service unless you are already past the 15k miles, so if you are 14993 they won't do it. That is dissapointing for BMW, but hell, the drive on those things is absolutely amazing.
Maint is now determined by the onboard Service Interval Indicator, and is generally every 15000 miles for most drivers. However, for the people who do highway driving, interval sometimes stretches to almost 20,000 miles.

I personally don't care for the BMW (Castrol) A3/B3 rated 5w-30 they use, I can probably get you with a different oil that will actually last the full 15-20K without buildup like crazy and thickening up into a SAE50.

BTW, last time I checked, a timing belt for the S4 is well over a $1000. Plus, I heard that each oil change requres 11-12 qts of oil.

Not to mention, isn't the S4 a V8? Gas guzzle? I don't know for sure, but that is a good possibility. If it is a low mile S4, no biggie on mant because it is covered under their maint program like BMW.

Another downisde to the IS350 - and hopefully just an isolated incident, somebody reported needing a tranny replacement after 700 miles

I think S4 gets low 20s....

Maint. is only covered for 50K....but if you get a CPOed one, the car will probably have 20 or 30K on it already and you won't have much left on the maint. warranty. 11 qts of oil for an oil change is high....though with some careful work, you could probably stretch the interval to 12-15K between oil drains using the right oil.

BTW Vik, I just sent you a copy of the wholesale price list for the E90, as well as the prices for ED invoice and US invoice. I won't post 'em here as I don't want to get sued as they're supposed to be confidential.

European delivery! That's right

That's actually a GREAT way to get a BMW. My parents are looking at convertibles and are seriously thinking about going to pick up a 330cic in Germany. The price is great and the trip would be great as well. Plus, there's nothing like driving your BMW at the speed it was meant to be driven at...

$1300 for auto?! Get the manual and your price is down to $45665.

Why not something slighty used so you don't take the initial depreciation hit?

yea, $1300 seems about right. They probably include the dress with the car.

If you don't know how, I really would consider learning before you pull the trigger on the new car. If you don't, and do end up learning later, you'll more than likely hate yourself for buying an auto

Well, the IS350 is automatic only and automatics are available on the GT and G35. Not sure if you will have groups in the car, but if so then the GT is a good fit; very nice backseat and very comfortable passenger seat.
