I want a new car.

Yes, I want to sell my RL and buy a new car. Basically I am VERY bored with the RL. It is a great car, and I am not going to lose much on the sale. I bought it for under 41k and above 39k. Due to the terms of the agreement, I can't specify the exact price I paid for it

At any rate, I want something smaller, more like TSX sized, coupe or sedan I am open to. Fun to drive. Under 45k sticker price. I want nav & bluetooth. That surely limits the choices. Fire away

The IS350 is already on the list. Other suggestions?

Certified BMW 5er?

If I were you I'd be all over the IS350, with luxury package and navi/levinson your still with in your budget. G35 would be the runner up, but it may be to big.

:shakehead Totally disagree. For the price, the 330i is a much better drive. The IS350 has power, but is totally lacking in terms of suspension and steering feedback. And since Vik is looking for a rewarding drive, I would go with something that provides better steering feedback and a stiffer suspension.

I love the 3 series, but it has one problem and to me its large enough to make me not want the car. Runflat tires, expensive, don't last long and generally a pain in the ass - you have no spare tire with the new 3 and I can't deal with replacing tires that cost nearly a grand every year(assuming you drive 12-15k miles a year) - just not my cup of tea.

fair enough, but I would say that a set of aftermarket wheels and tires would resolve this issue pretty quickly for not a whole lot of money

But you still have no spare and now if you do get a flat you are fucked. Also the suspension is tuned to ride/handle right with the ultra stiff runflat tires, so I am unsure what will happen with a normal tire. I can't figure out why automobile manufacturer's are trying to shove runflats at the public, they are going to HATE them the second they have to deal with them.

Probably because they are getting them at a great price from the tire manufacturers that want the public to spend $1000 on tires every single year.

Yeah, I have tried to work with both the local BMW dealers and they refuse to take more than 500 off any of their cars - instock or special order. Keep in mind that I have paid close to invoice or below on the TSX, FX35, TL, and RL. why they refuse to deal. Other people have gone to them that I know (with more negotiating skills) and can't get anymore than that off either.

Does the 3 series have in dash cd changers yet?

Packages/Options:
Sport Package $1,600
STEPTRONIC Automatic Transmission $1,275
Premium Package $2,200
Cold Weather Package $1,000

Came out to 43,845.

For some reason there wasnt an option for navi. Also You dont need the other crap like active steering and active cruise control. Thats the shit that makes the price sky rocket. IMO

Too bad the IS350 doesn't come with a sportier suspension. I'm a BIG fan of the interior of the IS350 and all the features. Features alone make me want the IS350 - and of course it being smaller. I should really schedule a good block of time to drive the 350 to see if it works for me. I really like it, but I have a feeling the ride is going to be too plush - lexus like.

Well I was configuring the 330xi

Packages/Options:
Sport Package $900
STEPTRONIC Automatic Transmission $1,275
Premium Package $2,200
Comfort Access $500
On-Board Navigation System w/iDrive $2,000
Heated Front Seats $500
Satellite Radio $595

Accessories:
None Selected

$47,640 too high IMO.

Now, the IS, I can get for a couple grand off and change the suspension later, right? Not that I know how much of a difference it would make.

Thats a terrible way to get them to haggle. First hit up E90 forums and see what others are paying, or even edmunds. Then price out the car you want and with what options. I say fine out the invoice price of it and add 1k (since this car is still new) and email all the local dealers around you with what YOU want and what YOU want to pay. Make sure all the emails are the same and at the end tell them that the first dealer to agree to your price will get the sale. And that you will come in the same day to buy it.

Let those bishes compete with each other. I think walking into a dealer is making you a sitting duck. Let them play on your playing field.

I have done with his with my parents cars and my own. Most of the dealers wont bother with my low balling but theres always one or two that are willing to bite.

Doesnt mean you have to do it that way for a BMW. Just giving advice.

How is it a terrible way to haggle? I didn't say how I haggled with them, just because others went in doesn't mean I did. I always do my negotiating via e-mail or phone. They have always refused to take anything more than 500 off msrp. Now, if I call dealers in chicago or ohio the dealers they are willing to deal on pricing.

Told ya it wasnt 47-48k

quick search, im sure you can find better threads than this.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...ghlight=jersey few guys who got at least 1k off. They mention one guy getting 2500 off but sounds like a rumor.

Also i hear the more options you get the more room you have to haggle.

I didnt mean to offend ya about the haggling thing. I just assume the guys who walk into dealers that get 500 off and buy the car are ones who dont do homework.

Not offending me

I have glanced around a few BMW forums and seen the same things. I was told by a dealer in Ohio that if I want to wait till they order it and get it ins tock they will give me $1500 off. My other concern with BMW is their so called "free maint" for 50 miles, one oil change every 15k miles? Seems kind of crazy to me - and then I have heard a lot of stories that they don't do the service unless you are already past the 15k miles, so if you are 14993 they won't do it. That is dissapointing for BMW, but hell, the drive on those things is absolutely amazing.

Maybe... I don't really know. I wish they were more readily available. Invoice is close to 39k on the IS350 I am looking at. what to do.

Still saying a CPO'd S4. Sounds like it would fit the bill. With navigation plus, Audi has a pretty decent navigation system--check. The Audi can be equipped with bluetooth--check. And while it may not have been a requirment, would it not be nice to stick with an AWD vehicle--the Audi has quattro...another check. You can steal a CPO'd S4, or even an '05 considering most dealers are getting their '06s in.

Here's an excellent example:

Well, I can come up with negatives for the IS also. Soft suspension - expensive maint (oil change at dealer is $100...wtf?)

Ahh, good example. I will look around. I have alwas liked audis, my only reservation has been reliability and piss poor dealer here. Somebody in the RL forum was commenting on my local audi dealer being so shitty also.

That's too bad about the dealer. Though for reliability: it seems that you go through vehicles fast enough that reliability should not be too much of a trouble. The current generation A4/S4 (is it B6/B7?) has been in production since 2002, so hopefully a lot of the kinks are worked out. I wouldn't be too fearful about S4 reliability. I think the A4 is one of the more reliable Audis.
