i wanna buy a prelude
any previous prelude owners here? i'm looking for a cheap project car. either a civic or a prelude under 4k. i prefer 5th gen prelude, but i couldn't find anything under 4k.
this is the cheapest i could find on prelude. it's a silver prelude with some issues.

i called them, and they said it has a lifter noise. what da hell is a lifter noise? is it fixable under few hundred bucks? he said it is clean and runs fine.
i'm about to test drive it now. well, stop me if i'm making a huge mistake!

-it's in a perfect condition. but i couldn't low ball them. they were very firm on the price.
wish i could find cheap one from ebay, but i prefer buying a car within 50 miles.

If you don't know cars and don't have anyone who knows cars that can look at the Prelude, !!!

oh well, adios prelude!
i'm leaning towards the civic. i can get that black one for $4600.(is it a good deal?) i'm gonna test drive few more and hopefully get one within next 3-4 weeks.

Civics are gutless. Even the EX model which has VTEC, screams above 4,500 RPM but hardly moves anywhere. I would recommend a pre-1996 for a project car because its easier to work on (OBD-I), much easier to get running, as opposed to OBD-II which is very picky. Either that or you can turbo the D16 which can handle boost pretty well. Me personally, if I got a Civic I would put a GSR motor.
You want project car, buy a shell but make sure you're ready to devote a lot of time for it. And make sure you have a daily driver... don't make the mistake of relying on your project car to get you to school/work everyday.
Be patient too. Make sure you run a Carfax and check EVERYTHING. Lift up the trim in the trunk and check for water in the trunk, and any kinds of leaks around the valve cover, underneath the car, etc. Keep an eye on the all the gauges for any strange fluctuations too.
