I need 2nd car (winter/bad weather) ideas....

I don't want to spend more then $3500. So....I was thinking an older Cavalier/Beretta, older Accord or Civic, or a older Jeep Cherokee. Heres the deal...my sister has an 03 Jetta 1.8T and she goes to school in the city, so she doesn't want to drive the Jetta down there, so she is going to put in $1000, and I'll put in $2000-$2500, this way she can take the beater into the city and I get the Jetta for my 10 mile daily round trip. So I'm looking for some suggestions...

I like that older Jeep Cherokee idea. Makes sense for the winters in the mid-west.

for a dedicated winter beater why would you get anything other than 4wd or awd?

get a wrangler or a subaru.
