Pretty sweet

With that motor and if they get the weight to 3600lbs, you'll have a screamer

The bad news is that the new 2008 CTS with the direct-injection 300HP V6 already weighs 4000lbs.
That's Chrysler 300C weight.

Here is the cars.com link...It now does not list the C63 as a model selection for the 2008 C class, although in the "new or notable" section it says "Choice of two V-6s or a rip-roaring V-8"...weird, It did in fact at the time state C63 with 6MT, but has been modified. I thought it too good to be true as most high powered MB's use the beefed up 5AT.

Glad to see CTS is finally stepping up to big boy V6 levels with the DI. I believe H/A first showcased DI to the public in 1999, isn't time for it to surface in production? That blown V8 will be insane!

Seriously, just a dumb comment. There's nothing going on with those cars that has anything to do with where they are assembled.

Honda has been making Accords in Marysville, OH for quite some time and the only problems that they've had recently was a Japanese-sourced transmission.

Toyota has had a plant in the US for a while now too. No problems there until recently.

Subaru has a manufacturing plant here.

Mercedes has a plant in the US.

So does Hyundai. Hyundai is kicking everyone's asses up and down the street. How do you explain that?

That depreciation is one reason I was looking hard at '04 & '05 E55 AMG's a while back. The E55 is one fast land yacht...

I'm pretty sure it doesn't weigh that much...even with the AWD option. My '05 CTS-V doesn't even weight 3900lbs and the new CTS is lighter.

Autoweek had the CTS's weight with the dir. injection V6 at just over 4000 lbs. a couple of issues ago something like 4020 lbs.

I think the CTS' weight is in Car & Driver too-- but yes, unfortuantely the added size and more gear = more weight.

i know this isn't the quality of a C63 or M3 but a thought. a SRT-8 Charger. their offering 20s on it for 08 as an option which would be HAWT.

The Charger hasn't grown on me...but it is a great overall car for the money.

Check out the C63 in white:

if i had an "unlimited wallet"
for a compact hot rod "professional" 4 door I'd definately go with the C63 AMG.
only thing that would worry me is the resale value on Benz is almost as bad as a Ford,GM or Dodge product.
I like the design of the new C Class more than the new 3 series and M3. and i know i'm gonna get shit for it but it's my opinion .the CTS doesn't really "trip my chain" it's okay but nothing like a C class.
The Volvo S60R i kind of like the looks of. now it doesn't have the "punch" of a C63 or CTS-V but All wheel drive and good interior. and starts at 40 grand for a 08. I haven't drove one but EXTREMELY safe cars.

a lot depends on
#1. how important automatic is to you
#2. what kind of budget/money your willing to drop
#3. do you need RWD or All wheel drive.

I think you should consider holding out fo the new CTS-V next year. I am very impressed with Caddy's new CTS and the new "V" model is sure to be nasty. Plus the interior is HUGELY improved. Also the M3 is NEVER a bad choice (especially since its the same price as the C63)....
