Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Lets see..... $6 for a filter, and $5 / quart for 6 quarts = $36 for parts and I rent a lift for about $10. $46 total and I get to inspect the car and do other things while I am there.
If I went to the dealer, the oil alone would be ¥8000 then ¥5000 for a filter. So with labor (another ¥5000) it would be ¥18000 (or $211 with ¥85 / $1 exchange rate). Insane.

You can find 5-quart Mobil 1 jugs at Wal-mart for as little as $19.99 here in SoCal. The nice part about using the 5-quart jugs is that you can pour your used oil back into these containers and take to your local Auto Parts store for recycling.
For years we had 2 Acuras which made changing the oil that much easier because often they used the same filters and size of the oil pan plug (I usually change both of our cars at the same time).
I've been doing my own oil for 20 years now (since I was 16) and I've always wanted that control over my vehicle's fluids. Plus, call me old fashioned, but I think every red-blooded American male outta know how (and want) to change his oil. Just my

$25 for 5qt Jug of Mobil 1 EP at Walmart
$6 for a Purolator Filter at Kmart.
I get 5w-30 for both the Civic and TL and do the oil changes myself or my dad does it.
Not as bad as when I had the Jetta. 6.3qts of German Castrol. So, $8/qt and I had to buy 7 of them...

it's a car-drive it
Not much driving-We average about 10K a year in our truck so that gets a once-a-year oil change. The synthetic oil change from the dealer cost $55.00 We also received a free oil change coupon from Mitsubishi which we used. (regular oil). We average about 30K miles on the tsx and about 20K on the Hyundai.

That said, Porsche recommends oil changes anywhere from 10k-15k miles (depending on the engine type) in the Cayenne. So, if you think you can afford a Cayenne but can't afford $280-$560/year for maintenance... then you shouldn't be looking to buy a Porsche

$65 for Redline 5w-30 and RP filter done by myself.
For that GTR, it's crazy. Even if you did a super expensive oil like Redine, 10 quarts or whatever it is $100 and good cartridge filter is <$30. Brake pads even on the expensive end might be $400. I think there might be a little markup.

Well that's the thing... I'm guessing it was more then pads. That's what I'm trying to find out. There is only one person at the whole dealership that can even drive it... nevermind work on it. So if he's around my dad is going to try to get the scoop... b/c that's absurd

That is when DIY becomes a viable option since you'll save a bunch of money.

So the service yesterday was $553 including tax. Looks like they charged $113 for the oil, $59 for the wipers, and $195 for labor. The remainder was oil filter and air filter I believe. The car was there from 8a-2p.
They are also fixing 2 buttons on the center console which has some paint chipping off and a driver's side window interior liner which collects a small amount of water when it rains that manifests as a 2 inch vertical streak when I roll the window down and up. A cracked passenger airbag warning light was fixed under warranty.

My rational is for a 6 figure car it's worth it. Plus, Porsche has a record of all my servicing etc. in the event I resell the car or need any major sh-t done.
DIY oil change is easy and I do it occasionally... but the problem is that I can't clear the code saying maintenance required, and for them to do it, it costs some money. I have to bring it to the Porsche dealer for them to use their machine to clear it. I didn't have to pay for the oil change either because my service manager hooked it up! Not complaining at all!

I just had my 3 year service yesterday on the Carrera S. The service is considered "1 year". My 2 year service last year was just under <$800 but they did more servicing.

Yeah, I figure I only take in the 911 once a year. It's 3 years old and my DD but still has <12000 miles.

For sure, there's some crazy equipment at the service bay hooked up to the P-cars. Lots of internal coding stuff that is way beyond my expertise

I would never own one, but if I had the money to buy it, I would pay to properly maintain it. I do my own not because I am cheap, but because I enjoy it. AND I'M CHEAP.

$3.99/qt (on sale ) Valvoline Synthetic x 5 = $20 + $5 filter = $25 and I do it myself.
I buy the oil when it goes on sale, nobody beats that price, not even Wally world. Every time it goes on sale I buy a case or two. I've got enough for the next 52K miles.
