How Much Are You Paying For An Oil Change?

$30 at the local Cadillac dealer, but it seems like $40 is the average for dealers.

You?

When I had my 3G TL, I only paid $10 at the Acura dealership, which was amazing.

It was less expensive when I used regular oil rather than synthetic. Now, I buy the oil at Autozone and have the dealer change it for $10. Oil costs anywhere from $20 (on special) to $36. Yes, I am paying more for an oil change, but I'm changing the oil every 6-8K miles instead of 3K.

Nothing. I get mine done free. I do all three of my vehicles myself, so my only costs are parts.

Since parts aren't free, it's about $25-$30, depending on sales.

When I build some cabinets for the shop, I'll stock up to reduce that cost a bit further by buying in bulk.

Got my wife's changed for $15 the other day, because I'll be damned if I bust my ass in 100 degree heat for the CR-V.

so it really is not free. A lot of the oil changes for me have been free thanks to the dealer I go to and have been dealing with since 02.

$30.00 even at a local independent Honda shop. They use Mobil 5w20 and Honda parts only.

How are they free if you pay for "parts"? If you're buying "parts" then you're still paying for an oil change. I know when I did my own oil it would still cost me about $40-$50 for the oil (synthetic) and filter.

B/C of that I stopped doing my own oil changes and it costs me about the same (~$35) to have it done with synthetic, and I change it every 10k or so. My wife's are free (thankfully) since Audi pays for maintenance. Otherwise they'd be like $70...

I am usually able to find a deal around the time my car is ready for an oil change.

It costs about $60 total, for two 5qt containers of mobil one synthetic and an oil filter.

Granted I only end up using 8 qts...I always leave the extra 2 qts for my friend.

I don't have ramps. Don't feel like crawling around on my back. Then I have to dispose of the used oil. Plus the Synth oil will cost around $45 - 50 alone.

I think it's around $90 at my BMW dealer, but it's 6 quarters of full synthetic and free the 1st four years.

Not very much I don't think. I perform all my own maintenance. The filters are the most expensive part, while the oil is purchased in thirty gallon drums. Overall I would say around $20.00 A little more for the synthetic, but overall quite economical.

$30 for 5 quart container of Castrol Synthetic 5W-20 and a Honda OEM filter. Biggest hassle is taking the oil to recycling center, I wait until I have at least 5 gallons until going.

I caught a grand opening sale a few months ago and stocked up.

My next few oil changes will be costing $15 for Mobil1 Synthetic + Mobil1 filter.

But generally, $25-$30.

Your numbers are a LOT off.

Ramps cost about $40 to $50.

You can get a 5 qt jug of Mobil One from Walmart for $22.

I change the oil myself every 6 to 8 weeks using Mobil 1. $22 plus about $8 for a filter and 2-3 beers. You can dispose of the oil for free at Autozone.

Let's see....$77 a piece, 4 times a year = $308 a year. Do it your self = $120. Savings $188. Crawl on you back for a couple minutes.....it's worth it.

Notice, I said I get mine done free. I didn't say there were no costs involved... quite the contrary. But they are done free since I pay no one's labor.

As for going to a dealer or any other place which claims to do them from no charge, I wouldn't care if a dealer or shop offered to pay me $50 to let them change my oil. As long as I am able to do it myself, no one else is going to touch my car.

Usually about $28 for Mobil1 5w20 and a decent average filter. Change it at home.

Lately, I've been doing my fiancee's car, too. I came to find out that since I'm doing the oil change on her car myself, I'm also somehow obligated to buy the oil and filter, too.

But I suppose that's just the start. I can't wait to see what else I have to pay for once we are married.

47.00 at the honda dealer for mobil 1 5w20 fully synthetic with filter. Pretty cheap considering its over 112.00 for a diagnostic fee that takes about 1 minute!
