After the materials, engineering, advertising, labor, r&d, etc., how much you think Honda has spent in making a 2005 RL or TL? This is before the shipping and dealer mark-up.

I'm guessing they have about a 20 to 25% profit margin.

I do know that $1250 of every GM car that is sold goes towards paying health insurance.

 

Most cars cost far less then what they sell for.

I heard that a Cavalier cost GM $3500 per car to build. The longer they keep the same style and same chassis the cheaper the overall cost to build. This is why GM and Ford use the same car "platforms" across their divisions, ie: Mustang chassis is Thunderbird and Linclon LS, Focus is Mazda 3 and Volvo, Chevy Cobalt is Saturn Ion and some European small car.

 

I heard that GM loses $$ on nearly every car it sells and that all the money is made on trucks, suv's, and Cadillacs.
