You need the Shark model instead. The brush is actually powered instead of depending on suction to spin then. It works wonders on couch cushions and steps. Also good for the back of wagons and SUVs.

Dallison is right. Some things are better done by hand. Get one of these.

Yes, I have one but an older model that's no longer available.

You're not using it right. You are not trying to scrub just let it spin to pull the hair off the upholstery not trying to scrub it off. It works for me.

Can't speak for or against the Bissel, but +1 for the Shark with the motorized head. I have the handheld with the motorized head and it's pretty awesome on pet hair. I use it to remove pet hair on my carpeted stairs and it works better than anything else that I've tried. Picked it up for only $50:

Motorized ones are great on carpet because carpet is tough and even if you over do it you can't see minor damage.

It's different on upholstery, if you over do it and it's motorized you can damage fabric a lot easier. Also if you use the moving brush on upholstery repeatedly it's going to add wear and tear to the fabric. So a non-motorized unit is not that big of a deal for upholstery as long as it has good vacuuming abilities. In some ways the non-motorized hand heald brush units will protect the fabric by stoping the rotation of the brush if use improperly.

I've an RDX that I carry 3 small Beagles around in a lot. I have a big cover for the rear seat and the all-weather RDX floor mats.
My first step in cleaning the interior (lots of dog hair) is to open all the doors, remove loose stuff from the vehicle, then get out my gas powered blower and just blow the inside real well. After that, there is very little left to vacuum.

How do you get the fur that is stuck in the fibers of the cloth backing or floors?

For $50 why not try it? I struggle a bit on the steps with fur too.

Another vote for a lint roller OR using duct tape, which is the same in theory

Did anyone suggest replacing the carpet? Eric the car guy did a video on this and said the rubber gloves worked.

We picked up a Thule Force pod and 53" rails and this thing really accommodates the two of us and the three mutts. We put all of the soft stuff up top. It's decently waterproof too. This last trip it poured for about an hour and we were at highway speeds with very minimal leaks. On long trips we get just over 19mpg with a loaded truck. At lower speeds we can get 20-23 which isn't bad. Mrs. Dallison really likes this truck.
