Honestly would you buy an RL?

Honestly would you buy an RL?
I think the issue with the RL is that TL's are cannibalizing its sales. Sure the RL is more luxurious but the TL's have more hp and cost ~ $10K less and have a more contemporary design. In the $40K+ range most V8 powered cars like the M45, DeVille , and the 300C or a low end 5 series offer more content and a slightly more upscale image. If Acura wants to compete in that segment they need a V8. For some reason Acura's oldest designs like the TL & the NSX are tremendously overpriced.

i think the RL is a great car. You can get one for around 38k with navi, cant beat that. Its a great car for someone who just wants a well japanese made and doesnt care for performance.
RL > TL in terms of quality

The RL is a good car, comfortable and a great highway cruiser.
My mother has one(2nd overall)w/navi in white, looks good
with the HID's on(they look better than ours) especially at
nite.
Keep in mind the RL and NSX have a different age demographic
which is ages 50 and up, same as the corvettes. These buyers
have families and nice homes. So it makes sense younger
buyers wont be that passionate for it.

First and foremost i'm sick of people bashing the R.L. The problem is that people are putting that car in the wrong category. The RL compares to a GS300 not GS430 or LS430/
540 NOT 745. It's not the greatest car but the car is only 45K.
I actually look inside a RL today at my local acura dealer and it's basiscally the same car as my wife GS300.
I repeat the car is not in the same class as a LS430 or S430

Its has the exterior look and feel that is belongs with cars like the older LS400/ newer 430 and other cars of the nature.
Not only that but the RL is the true meaning of the word bland, it doesnt stand out, ever.
Its a nice simple reliable car at its best. But For the age segment looking at the RL and what they really can afford, why not get something better. And most of them do.

yes i'm so sick of ppl bashing the rl. remember the rl is an old old design way back in '96, and even then it was a carry over from the legend. btw, wasnt it the rl was one of the first car to offer navigation as an option way back in '96 or '97?
anyway i love the rl. i think its a beautiful car, and you dont got to be old to drive one. i'm not, i'm only in my tweenties.
i may be bias, but here is my rl:

The RL is the epitome of boring. It doesn't have competitive performance, it's interior is outdated compared to new newer Acura's and it's overpriced for what you get. There are MANY better buys. Hopefully the new RL will be a class leader once again

Oh come on, the RL is not THAT bad a car. A little boring, yes, but for older, more conservative folks who want something better than a Buick LeSabre what else is there?
Also this car is made in Japan so quality will be a notch above the CL/TL.

plus arent all of the current honda/acura designs derived from the 99 rl? wasnt it the rl was the first to have the pointy sharp grille?
i agree with kansaiwalker1, compare the rl to an ls400, jaguar, q45, e-class, and any american cars in its class, i would pick the rl style anytime. imo, the 5 series style is the only car that i would rather have over the rl.
thanks
