Honda Warranty Question
Ok I posted this on a Honda forum, but everyone is useless there and I haven't gotten any answers so maybe someone on Azine can help:
I have an 06 Civic Si and my warranty expires on April 6th. I just had my car in for a taping noise that comes from the engine area first thing in the morning when it is cold. This started once I had to get my second (yes second, that is another story) replacement steering rack installed under warranty. I left the car and had them look at it in the morning and they said it was some clips in the crowl area and were broken and unclipped and they replaced them.
Well it didn't fix it. It didn't do it when I left the dealership but it did the noise just like usual this morning. So since I have reported the problem to the dealer and they have already made an attempt at fixing it, do I have to take it back in before the warranty is up or can I wait and have them do it in a month or so (when my warranty has expired) and still have them fix it under warranty?
Here is the warranty book for an 06, I can't seem to find anything about this in there?
http://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/Documen...s/AWL33423.pdf
Cliffs: does the dealer have to be notified of a problem before the warranty expires or does the car actually have to be at the dealer before the warranty expires?

Your power train is covered for 5 years/60,000 miles, actually.
It sounds a lot like you are hearing classic Honda valve train noise.
How many miles are on your car? 2 steering racks sounds excessive, my Si has been mostly trouble free, save for the following TSB's and both sun visors splitting within two days of each other.
Make sure you get the suspension TSB taken care of before 3/36,000 and get your third gear syncro taken care of too...

ok to clear things up, it is not valve terrain noise. It is a tapping sound when i go over bumps and any sort of dips etc. The closest thing I can think of it sounding like is like taping on glass. It happens first thing in the morning when the engine is cold etc. It started doing this when I got the new steering rack so I think it is either something with the steering rack or something that is loose etc.

I switched to Amsoil MTF about 2 years ago and haven't had any third gear problems since, so I am not going to bother with the 3rd gear fix right now. Anyways it should be covered under the power train warranty.

I have had the suspension TSB taken care of. Car has 28K on it. The original steering rack was making a periodic sqeeking noise when turning at low speeds. The dealer put a new one on and it was defective and made all kinds of clicking noises before I even picked it up, and now I am on the third steering rack.

They may not honor the TSB if your warranty is gone when you finally bring it in.

It your car, but it will continue to get worse. I put in the new honda MTF which took care of it for about 10k. It still hated third in the cold, so I finally decided to screw it and have the work done. No grinds or pop outs since. The fluid thing is like using a bandaid to cover the stump left from an amputated limb, don't do it.

I noticed the link I posted for the owners manual didn't work so here it is:

From the Manual
I guess I will try to talk to honda and figure this out since no one seems to have a real answer. I left a message for my service adviser on friday but he never called me back
