Honda Accord ATF Help
I need to do a drain and fill on my 97 Accord LX Automatic. The owners manual says use Honda Premuim Formula ATF or you can use Dexron III as a temporary replacement. I was wondering if this would be a good fluid for the drain and fill and if it would be a compatable with the honda stuff. I picked some of it up at walmart yesterday.

Well, it's going to shift quite a bit firmer as the fluid isn't of the Z1 type. Dexron-III(H) fluids have different frictional characteristics than Z1 type fluids. If you really insist on using Mobil 1 ATF (Walmart generic will work fine, save your money), go to Napa Auto Parts and pick-up Lubegard HFM Supplement. It comes in a black bottle. Add 1 oz/qt and it will be fine.
I just used Walmart branded Dexron-III(H) and Lubegard HFM supplement on a 01 CL-S and it worked just fine.
