There's no money to be made selling to people who are looking some affordable sporty car. Look at Toyota, they make tons of money because most of their cars target people who can get a new car every year.
Honda has no need to offer a performance car right now. They can drop the S2k and not miss a beat. For what they are, the civic SI and V6 6speed Accord coupe and sedan offer enough performance for the buyers of Honda vehicles. And if they want a little more, they can get some HFP stuff. Plus, with Honda being primarily FWD, understeer and lack of FWD traction will limit performance.
