At least with Chavez, they can get around with cheap gas and have some redistribution of funds to the poorest people. And lastly, I think every person outside of the US finds the current administration to be more of a despot than the leader of Venezuela. (ie Q: "How can Hugo Chavez affect the world?" -- US gov't commission response: "Affect oil prices $5-$8 a barrel") versus ... Q: "How can President Bush affect the world?" -- you know the answer)
Whether or not an outsider to the US Presidential Election process can differentiate between our system and that of a military coup manufactured presidency is inconsequential.
Pete Schweizer's book Reagan's War provides the needed perspective with regard to this form of governing and it's tragic denouement.

Gentlemen, I'm sorry for my little rant there, but I hope my American countrymen understand my position.
As for gas prices, in my area, they have gone below $2.00 several times over the last few weeks at some stations.. for regular. I use Amoco 93 and it has been running around $2.21 to $2.24 a gallon. On Thursdays, the BP station I use has "cents off" (7 cents) for their 93 fuel.
