High Flow Resuable Air Filters

My friend's dad wants to get a high flow, reusable air filter for his Mercury Grand Marquis (I believe its a 97). He wants to get one that doesn't require oiling (worried about MAF sensor) and has improved flow over the factory air filter.

I looked up the usual suspects. Aem's dryflow doesn't have an application for it. Fram has their reusable air filters, but they weren't high flow according to the description given. I saw quite a few others on a google search, but most required oiling and the others were vague about if they do need oiling.

I keep thinking that there is another well known brand that has high flow air filters which are oil free. Any one know if there is one or could recommend one?

Thanks

check out amsoil's site. They make high flow filters that don't require oiling.

FYI, As long as the filter is not over oiled when it's 1st re-oiling is done the MAS will not be effected at all. Out of the box there should be zero problems as well.

I have never had any problems with the MAS & oiled filters. Anyone that has over oiled the filter.

True. I'll talk to him about it in a bit, he is quite mechanically inclined, but he is an older fashion guy and usually sticks to what he is familiar with.

Although, since he taken a few rides in my modded American built Jap car, he has started to change his mind about Japanese cars and modifying vehicles with non-OEM performance accessories. He almost bought his daughter an Accord or a Solara when his daughters 02 Lincoln LS V8 stated having engine issues and all he has all his life is V8 Lincolns and Mercurys.

Accord or a Solara
I'll tell you the Solara is a TANK! A friend in NYC has a 2000, bought new. It's pushing 160K & has only had regular maintenance. It's got bad o2 sensors now & the CE light is on, but he's still driving it. It always starts & drives, & him, his wife, & 2 kids trash the thing. All NYC street driving as well.

Apexi makes high quality low restriction filters.. they are expensive, though.

Yeah, but I didn't see anything for a Mercury (or Lincoln while we are at it) when I looked. Did I miss it?

maybe K&N would also have one, but that suggestion for the Amsoil is hard to beat, they make great filters.
