Help with parents car

AZ'ers I need some help. I know this is the TL thread, but just need some help quick and know many of us owned civic or Honda before. Ok so about a year ago i guess my dad decided to do a tune up on his 97 Honda Civic. He moved from NYC to VA 442 miles. I get into town yesterday and start working on it battery was of course dead $100 for that. no luck so i check the firing order and see that he had the order F'd up so they drove it from NYC to VA miss firing and left it sitting there 1 year. The day after they made it here they went to start the car it started it and it shut down.

So once i found that out i checked the distributor by pulling out a spark plug and leaving it in the wire and placing it near something metal. No spark happened so i thought i found it out the distributor is fucked. I buy a new distributor put it in and the car sounds way better at turning over but still no joy, then i remember it was miss firing and i hear a high pitch squealing i could not pin point where it came from.

Anyone please any help so greatly appreciated
