Help my Dad get a car for $35-40k
What would you get for $35-40k? These are his requirments:
1. Must have navigation.
2. Mid-size luxury car.
3. Not entirely opposed to a used car, as long as it is a current body style.
Of course I recommended a TL, and he's feelin it.... what else do you guys like?

Post a link of the NEW RL for 40k with Navi. I would even buy one for this price.

someone tell me why he should get a TL over a used 2004/2005 RL (yes, the RL will cost slightly more, but I think it would be worth it). Any major issues with the RL?

^ my dad (as weird as it is), doesn't want a Toyota, Nissan, Honda. I say it's weird, because he's always had average cars...I guess he wants something a bit nicer and a better brand in his retirement.

used 04-05 CTS V8, auto w/navi, I bet he can find one under 40k. 300C hemi w/Navi. Has your dad even driven a Lexus? If he did he would want one. Sounds like a 05 ES330 w/navi would be a perfect car for him IMO.

^ don't think he would get an american car.... hmmm...he might get the ES330....but I'm going to try to convince him to get an RL.... I love it!

man, the RL is a smoking deal...i think it would be good car for a kaka  but, I think that he would fall in love with all the gizmos in the RL...which none of the other cars in this price range would have...go have him test drive one...plus, it will be a long while before they change this body style, as opposed to the ES which I believe will probably change soon....I know my parents would like the RL, even though they wouldnt mess with most of the gadgets in there

Out of everything mentioned, I think the ES330 or RL are also good choices. I've actually fallen asleep in my friend's ES, it's that comfortable.

Also, i saw this new Lincoln called the Zephyr, i think its the replacement for the LS, it looks really sweet and has a pretty nice interior and they run around the lower 30s

Guessing SPORT isnt a main concern?
RL, soild build and made in japan!
ES330
S60R
New Toyota Avalon
2006 Passat
I can name A4, 3series, etc.. but not sure if those might be too small for him.

Hey G, This is DEFINITELY my choice. Your pops deserve the best right?? Well my choice would be a pre-owned Lexus LS430 and this one is right by where we live at a reasonable price.......thank me later! ![Wink](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)

.....or if you want to keep it within the family; try an M35! They're classy looking cars. I personally wouldn't get any Honda/Acura product unless its a manual. After my experience with the shitty slushbox, I'm not attracted to any of their cars.

You are right on the money. Sport isnt a concern, and the 3 series, A4, used S4, etc... are too small for him.
