Help Me With This Lease Please
I know very little about leases, though I'm trying to learn by reading a ton now. What do you guys think of this lease. What do you think the taxes could be? How do they figure taxes on a lease...I mean you're not buying it really...or if the MSRP is 31K and buyout is 17K, do they charge you on the difference since that's kinda what the sale price is? Might a 2.0T be a little boring to drive? Might test drive one today or tomorrow to get a feel.

Just got off the phone with a dealer. Cousin knows the sales mgr there I guess, and gave me his #.
$15 - $25 more per month for 12,000
$40 - $45 more per month for 15,000
Taxes/Title/etc...comes out to about $2,800 down to walk out the door.
I dont' understand how they can charge you taxes on the sale price of the car if you're leasing it. Shouldn't it be the sale price - the purchase price at lease end...because technically that's what you bought it for for 3 years. Say its $34K brand new, $17K to buy at the end...original tax should be on 34-17=17 and if you buy at then end...then you pay taxes on the $17K the buyouts for.
I'm not really buying it, I'm borrowing it, taxes should be different.

Obviously your state likes $34k worth of taxes more than $17k
