Help me Install Intake and Sway Bar? Jersey Area?

hey guys,

this is a long shot on other members part....but im getting the AEM intake...finally...and i have the comptech Rear Sway Bar....and i want to install them, i have heard that AEM gives great iutnstructions...but i have never done this type of stuff before. i want to do all of the work...its not that im lazy....i just need help...guidance and someone to tell me im doing it right....i would really appreciate it....i just can't bring myself to pay 300+ to install both of these things...and i figured there might be someone that would want to help me out...its a long shot...but if anyone is in the northern jersey area....and would be willing to help me that would be amazing. i don't really have the tools as well thats one of the reasons i would like to do it with someone else. i have a 2004 TL....so any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks in advance!

i did pulleys, intake, headers, sways, and suspension all by myself.. im in northern jersey. near GWB. but i work at Jersey City (Newport). but most of the time im busy. running around because of work. if you still have my number you can give me a call anytime during the day

Maybe you could ask brett (mclarenf3387). he knows alot about installing parts and hes from Livingston.. try PMing him.

installing an intake is one of the basics for working on your car. trust me its not that hard. just remember what screws and hoses went where, and its all pretty basic. the intake is actually easier to install than removing the stock airbox

i installed me AEM on my 2nd gen TL in like 15-20 minutes. way easier than i expected.

It's a bitch on the 3G with all the rivets. I didn't have a rivet popper, so I started sawing them off. Took about 45 minutes overall with multiple cigarette breaks.

On the 2G, it's really easy, but that's irrelevant.

Sorry, NFL. I can't help ya. I'm in Michigan. Hopefully someone will help you out.

But I'll be home next week, so if you have the stuff now, let me know.
Shoot me a PM with when you can do it and I'll see. I should be free Wensday though and probably Friday.

rear sway bar is easy once the car is up in the air...if you are not familiar with it at all get someone else....with the intake, though, i think you can do it. it will be much easier if you take the front bumper off (look up the pdf on how to do it...takes about 10-20 min) i spent 15 min just trying to get the socket on the 10mm bolt way up by the front of the car on the oem air intake. anyway, with the bumper off its really easy to see where everything goes...

strip down as much as you can, use masking tape labeled with all the stuff you unplug if you need...take pictures, do whatever you need to at first to get comfortable with it. if you get stuck im sure there are more than enough people here that can guide you through it.

the above is only if you do not find anyone near you to help out. if you are worried, having assistance is ideal because you gain a certain amount of confidence in watching. good luck with all the installs regardless.

I would think NSXNext is the only other person in the area with install experience, but with a new baby coming in December he is probably unavailable to help.

Thanks man. Yeah, "free time" for me is at a premium this month. Too many home projects to get finished before the "big day".
