Has anyone raced an E36 M3 97?

Has anyone ever raced an E36 M3 1997? I have a friend of mine who has an AUTOMATIC (wouldn't mess w/ a standard) and wants to race me. Who do you think will win.. those suckers are fast. Forget about HP specs (240) cuz those M3 engines are extremely powerful. I also can't find good 0-60 numbers as everyone gives a diff figure. I would never race one on very curvy roads as all of us now that they handle phenomenally. Especially the M3....

pretty sure 0-60 on the manual was like 5.6 or so, auto might be a little slower. straight line it should be a good race. depends on what type of start you get with the fwd and how fast you are going up to.

I say if you got headers then it would be a close race. Stock he might win by a little

Should be close up to 109 mph. After that, forget it.

I raced one on the highway... I got owned pretty bad, it flew past me. I'm not sure if it was a 97, maybe a 98 or 99. All i know it was an older gen M3. It didn't have the quad exhaust and side grills. They might look ghetto but they are hella fast. I have a 02 TL-s with an AEM CAI and I had trouble against it...

If he was stock you would not have been owned THAT bad, but OWNED you would be. I raced one about a year ago and put several car lengths on him in no time. Obviously, he was stock and I'm not. Add a few twisties though and I'm done for.

^^^

It should be a driver's race from a roll if it's stock until you hit tripple digits, unless it's modded to hell like this one

my cousin has a 97 M3 manual though and that thing is hella fast. well he does have an intake and a chip. but if both stock it should be close i think because my dad had a 03tls and ran him every once in a while for fun. that was before his mods.

Same deal here. I raced two differenct E36 M3s (both 5MT) with my 02 Maxima (4AT). In both instances the moment the M3 driver shifted into 3rd, it was over for me.

But I havent run an AT M3 yet.

One of my best friends has a auto 97 M3 4door and we raced many times. From a stop he will take me until 20 or so then I will walk by him. On the highway it's closer but I still beat him. My prediction is if you have mods you should win rather easily.
