I already raced two of them. One was a guy that I know and the other was just someone on the street.

Lost both times, but not by as much as I thought I would. They have an advantage over my car when speeds are above about 50 MPH.

My buddy beat me by about 3 or 4 cars, and the guy on the street beat me by about 1 car length.

Imagine the new M3 with a V8 or supercharged six?

Man Acura should produce a 350hp CL TYPE R to compete against those compact monsters.

Why not 400hp, so we can play with Corvettes?

Make it RWD and stick, too.

Does that make you want the E46 more or less? I guess if I knew that an E46 M3 could get about 4 carlengths to 100mph, it wouldn't be that much of an incentive to go dish out the $$ for it.

Acura doesn't need to make a type R CL to keep up with the M3--if they simply put a 6 speed in the CLS with some good tires it would be real close with the old M3.

Very close, but I still think the E36 M3 would have an advantage. Its RWD, and I think it has more torque.

Did anyone see the article in motor trend where they put an M5 engine in the 3 series? It was so nice looking and super fast.

I think this is the Alpine M-3 . They always do shit like this, but it costs 120,000 for that I could buy a new M-5 and a new M-3.

The M3 is really nice, good looking and practical....but for a real shit eating grin ride for $50k- look no further than the 2002 Z06 (405hp/400 lbs torque)- lighter wheels and lighter windshield for 02 also....car is going to be crazy, plus there is a whole bunch of aftermarket performance parts for it (for not crazy $ either).

Actually the 3 series with the M5 enigine is called the Hartge 50(5.0). It is faster than the M3 I think it does 0-60 in like 4.7, being very traction limited. If you put slicks on I'll bet it could pull 4.0's. Anyway, nice but pricey @ $125,000.
