I guess that makes sense.. if anything can make sense when you are talking about a $400k car ... and I meant 13 years

this sounds funny but some of the richest doctors specialize in wierd things....for example urologists

they spend all day touching penis but they make high 6 figures

http://www.acponline.org/journals/ne...97/morepay.htm

The highest paid doctors, according to the survey, were cardiovascular surgeons, who reported a median compensation of $545,431.
remember kids, specialize early, and specialize often.

There is a guy around here that regularly tracks his F40. Last time I was at Autobahn Country Club he was there. He isn't the greatest driver, but man does that thing look good going around the track. I was a passenger in my friend's SVT Cobra and we kept him behind us the whole session.

I saw an F40 at Gingerman once, I wonder if it was the same guy... he didn't go fast at all, didn't even seem to take it much past 4k... still sounded sweet, for what we could hear...

It really amazes me sometimes how people can acumulate enough money to be able to afford a garage like that.

I found a pic from the weekend I was there. My friend's dad said he wasn't an experienced driver. Also, his wife was driving the car around the track too. Try and make it out there if you can. On a good weekend, that guy's garage would look cheap. I have seen numerous Ferarri's, every type of Porsche(including a Carrera GT), Lambos, Maserattis, etc etc.

sorry, there is no circumstance where an F40 looks "cheap"...... the other cars, maybe - but you can't include the F40 in that group. . .

there was, might still be, a F40 at algar ferrari outside of philly, along with an enzo. i was there to take a look at it since i had never seen one in person and someone told me it was there, just stunning, and the most mind blowing thing is that its 13-14 years old. this one had 450 miles on it if i remember correctly and was selling(sale was pending when i was there), foe $425,000. it hadent been started in like 4 years-what a shame. ohh and the enzo was no slouch either!

Place yourself in the early 1980s when this car was first debuted, and every vehicle was a box with wood paneling. Your opinion will change

Too bad there's no such thing as an emergency room trauma surgeon.

I have no idea where people get this information. Lists that people drag from the internet or from the 'come to buttfuck, TX and make over $600K/year' flyers I get in my mailbox are not exactly reality. We do make good money, but docs that make more then 300-400K/year are becoming more and more a rarity.

The ranges of what an MD gets paid are huge -- and median salaries vary widely from region to region and practice setting to practice setting. Overheads can be tremendous (I think the average medical student graduates with >$100K in debt, and that's before they get into business debts).

Anyway, as stated that's not average doctor money that gets you a corral like that. I'm drooling too. Fuck, I'd just take the garage, tool set, and lift and be happy. Kudos to RufMD though. Very nice.

Maybe I misunderstood, but thats what my girlfriend tells me she's going to med school for. And she got that number from the hospital, where she volunteers in the emergency room.

maybe she just meant ER...... an "ER doc" is a pretty generic term.... an ER doc does pretty much EVERYTHING that docs do, in ER - just because of the nature of the work.

my bro-in-law is one, and my other bro-in-law (to be) is a cardio doc and both my sisters are docs too.... I'm the black sheep, yeah. oh and my dad is a very specialized radiologist.

Guys if you read on the 1st he said he made his money before he became a DR.

Not every DR make's 200-500K, and if you do takes years.

Same with been a pilot, some pilots that applied for a position we had open collect food stamps because they don't earn enough salary, with the current Reg airline they fly for.

Anyhow..nice collection

how old are they? starting pay for pilots isnt much...top of the pay scale is pretty high though. depends on how lucky you get during contract negotiations.

Early 50's, and he has to make 300k minimum. This is my buddies dad... my friends a pilot too, just started fighter pilot training in the air force this summer.

Anyway he hangs out with all these pilots, he says the UPS pilots make a ton.

She needs to get her story straight or relay it to you correctly, or tell the people she's talking to not to BS her. What year of med school is she in? She may still be in the naive phase where everything ahead looks incredible. Why is she volunteering her time in an ER? She should be getting school credit or pay -- volunteering is what is done after hurricanes or during high school or undergrad...

An ER physician is not a surgeon. Not even close.

A general surgeon can specialize in trauma and critical care, but they don't work for the emergency department. The majority of trauma patients that are surgical typically go to the orthopedic surgeons or the neurosurgeons' service anyway.

...and, FWIW, trauma usually doens't pay well anyway...most schmoes that get shot or stabbed have no insurance and little or no cash to pay their bills. When I'm on call I do trauma too and, unlike many of my colleagues, actually like it...it seems to impress people when you tell them the shit that you see, although after a couple years, you've pretty much seen it all...but doc, I was just minding my business and some dude clocked me!...but (in general) it doesn't pay the bills. Most of the local private dudes shovel off their trauma to the university medical centers because they don't want to absorb the economic hit.

Now back to the car thread.

Where do people drive these cars? An F40 is not something that you're going to take to work in the morning. Is it? Even taking it out for a spirited ride on the freeway won't do a car like that justice. Now don't get me wrong, I like nice cars, but at some point isn't the car really too much for the roads that we all drive on? Maybe RufMD also owns his own race track too. ...though I wouldn't mind having the dilemma that he must face every morning -- do I take the NSX, the F40, the Esprit, or the Ruf to work? Or do you slum it and take the Cayenne Turbo?

Slimey...I must not have listened to her carefully enough, I dunno...

and as for the cars...looks like he does it more for the collection than the cars. I bet this time next year that car won't have more than 3k on it.
