GTO Lovers

I just noticed these pics while doing some research. This should add at least 100 WHP to the new GTO:

The mazda might have better reliability than the Holden has...I know CD TV was talking about how the Monera has been out for two years in Australia and GM needs to get on them about some of the quality issues.

I just saw that C/D TV also, They SLAMMED the Monaro...er....GTO!! To paraphrase, they were disappointed that this is the car effectively replaced the Camaro SS, which was faster and cheaper (in price). OUCH!!! Try again, GM.

i saw at least 75+ TRUE ('64-'74) GTO's this weekend at the OC Classic Car Show and Cruise, and imo, gm ruined the nostalgia (right word?) of the original by re-lableing the monero to take its place...its not even an original design, they just rebadged another car booo gm/pontiac

But wasn't the original GTO a re-badged car anyway?? It was just a optioned Tempest LeMans.

I saw that too and can understand their comments. However, I never really saw this as a replacement for the F-Bodies. It is easier to live with on a day to day basis.

GTO owners lucked out getting the LS1 in there cause there is extensive aftermarket

I believe you need to trim the hood to get that blower in though.

you do realize that the camaro ss, was, in fact, a total piece of shit.

maybe it was faster and cheaper, but since when does that mean anything. quality on the gto is amazing, and the interior is one of the best from GM

No argument here (ref. F-body = POS). However, Holden has had a history of notably poor quality versus the typical GM poor quality. So its possible the GTO's poor quality may actually be worse than the F-bodies. Unimagineable but possible.

Peace.

Here are more details:

Magnuson will be releasing an intercooled kit for the GTO this summer.

- O.E.M. quality Mp112 5th Gen, "hybrid" roots style intercooled supercharger w/integral bypass valve

- Intercooled application features a unique air to liquid heat exchanger that is integrated into the manifold, below the supercharger

- Computer programmer - re-flashes factory ECU, spark and fuel control, transmission shift points, line pressures and torque converter strategies are optimized to manager increased torque, horsepower and mileage.

- Two great warranties - standard 3 year limited warranty or add an optional 36,000 mile 3 year powertrain warranty for $200.00

- Does not void your warranty :P

- 100% complete with step-by-step instructions

This all-new intercooled supercharger system utilizes the Magna Charger MP112 supercharger with internal bypass valve.

Torque and horsepower output is improved from 1500 rpm to 6500 rpm . This kit is complete with all components necessary for installation. Included in the kit is the cast aluminum intake manifold and all necessary hardware to complete the entire installation. Other components in the system include new fuel injectors and extruded aluminum fuel rails, coolant circulation pump, intercooler core and heat exchanger. Factory push lock connectors are utilized in the fuel system for ease of installation.

Prices:
Silver finish s/c kit = $5989.99
Polished finish s/c kit = $6989.99

Damn I start liking GTO more and more and with nice body kit it will be DA BOMB despite the price tag including s/c kit. But for performance and look, including nice interior that GM made first time ever in history - its a great machine with awesome V8 sound.

Yup.... it was a $395 option on a LeMans in 1968. Earlier it was even cheaper.
