I actually got a pretty decent deal on the wheels. 21" with Pirellis with $800 in extra finishes was under 10. Retail was like 13. Shhh don't tell my wife. Those arent my exact wheels mine will be about 6 weeks I guess. Thinking about upgradin to the 12-13 front bumper and DRL's next.

Good deal! It's gonna be bitchin' when they're on Godzilla. Make sure to stay far from curbs too.

+1000. Do the bumper and drl upgrade, looks much better.

Can't wait to see them on the car.

No offense at all but the simplicity of the wheels belies their quality. They don't look like $10k wheels even though I know they are.

Oh believe me, I understand. I saw a set of these in brushed with polished lips like nspecs. They really showed the milling and looked like jewelry. If my car was black, I would have gotten those. Just didn't want silver wheels on silver car. I bought these because i figure they would be an easy sell if I sold the car. Also I couldn't find any other wheel that got the spoke so perfectly contoured over the step lip. 3rdly, 21" is expensive no matter how you slice it. I could have gotten the SL version of these with more milling and weight reduction but I didn't want the spokes to get any thinner. Here is my same wheel in brushed/polished.

5.0 Trackspec contoured matte black with brushed gunmetal outer and inner barrels. 21x10 , 21x11. 285/35 in front 305/30 in back, I could have gone wider in the back but I didn't want to run a 20 or 25 series tire, i didn't want the weight, and the tires are like $700 for the 355's or 375's. Hopefully they will come out with like a 315 or 325 that I can run later. Tire selection sucks for 21".

I'm sure those are really great rims. But the matte black always looks dingy or dirty to me.

GT-R looks great with the black wheels!

Getting back to the original post question, I'd definitely do the trade to a GT500. Sure the GT-R is a superior track machine with a more premium build quality but if you can make the trade without losing much money the GT500 is such a bad ass ride! Love the look of the 2013's with the leds and revised taillights. Plus its still pretty stupid fast....

Don't see it happening at this point. Spent the last 2 days driving the GT_R in it's element, the track. What a blast. It's been a couple years since I tracked but now we have a first class facility here. www.nolamotor.com I took it easy at first and got passed by most everybody. The instructor told me that my lines were mostly good but I wasn't trusting my car. By this afternoon, I was passing people that were passing me at first. My instructors were PCA guys and had never been in a GT-R. I let one of them take me out with one of the faster groups with him driving my car. He was amazed. We were passing fully prepped race cars. We stayed on this guy's bumper for as long as we wanted to.

The car grips so well on street tires (runflats), it's silly.

How did the brakes hold up?

Assuming you needed to use them.

How about tread wear?

Haven't checked the brakes yet but no loss of feel yet. I didn't really start to push it too much until the second day so I'm not expecting too much wear. The tires were my original runflats and had 12k street miles on them. They were already showing some good wear. Hopefully I can get a few more track days out of them. The instructor carved them up pretty good. Man, that car pulls out of turns unbelievably.

Wheels came out looking superb. The drop goes a long way too, looks more aggressive.

@ the 997 cup car.
