Greatest Flops?
Greatest Flops?
Well i'm bored and I guess I should start one of those interesting discussions (I hope it's not a repost
)
Anyways, what are/were the greatest Automotive Flops ever?
Eg. Acura CL, great car just poor marketing led to the car's failure to sell and now more mid-size coupes from Acura
.
I'm thinking of another one and I'm sure someone will get it.

)? The GTO had much lower than expected sales of 25K, but I don't think it goes in the same category as the last two GM minivans which lasted two years before being spiked- I can't even name them (Chevy Venture?? and its Saturn/Buick equivalents)-- but they neither met sales nor performance expectations.
The last Ford Thunderbird and Mercury Cougar were flops too, as was the latest Subaru Brat- almost never see these cars on the road because nobody bought them, although they were supposed to attract more than enthusiasts (unlike the GTO and SVX).

Well I had in mind, good cars which had poor sales but now it seems it has turned into just mainly cars that had relatively poor sales, which is cool also, there's allot of cars I've never heard of. Another one that comes to mind is the Toyota Supra, back in the production days no1 wanted it, but now that it's out of production it seems to be like a big thing and it's value has gone up quite a bit (wanted a MKIV but their aren't any locally for sale that I can afford), maybe this has sumfin to do with the fast and the furious movies....
Subaru Brat? I've never even heard of that car... kinda like how I've never heard of the CL until a few months ago...

GTO has some problems becuase of the way it looks......i mean shit think of every muscle car you can does the new GTO jump at you....hell no that thing looks wrong......when i think muscle car i think 69 camaro.......64 mustang....... challenger....(the new one is SICK)....and if you look at the new gens of these cars they look like the ones i named coincidence i think not......the GTO just doesn't look like a muscle car with 450 HP should.....i guess thats what happens when you just rebadge a car thats already out in another country and call it new.....it left alot to be desired....

any more contributions of why GM likes too use their resources around the globe? or just arent creative enough?
Good cars with poor sales?
Only thing that I can think of off the top of my head would be the GTO (only sold in the US ... :argh: ) and the NSX. I think the NSX at the end of its run was a great car but its price is what kept volumes really low. Honda never dumped any R&D into the next gen until its contemporaries jumped into the fray and now they're stuggling to keep up. That blasphemy of a concept at the Detroit Autoshow was wisely scrapped.
