Great story of an rare engine found!
This thread might not get a lot of interest but i thought it was cool.

Cliffs from what i gathered:
1.Noob asks what kind of engine he found
2.Forum joking says junk since they think hes lying
3.OG member steps in and tries to help via PM
4.Validates that he does in fact have a rare Carrera 4 cam in excellent condition.
5. Soon to profit thanks with the help of forum members.
Guess that value of it is over $100k.
Its actually a good read. I left some parts out but theres some good backstory to it.

Wow, I read the whole thread, thats amazing that a significant piece of Porsches history was just sitting in a garage. Great find!
That Grady guy reminded me of Azines Terry, very knowledgeable and eager to help.

That is wonderful.
On another note I'm a huge fan of air cooled flat fours. Especially the sound they make, I have never heard a 4 cam in person, but one of the videos posted puts it on the list of things to do before I die.

There are some genuine lucky guys on that thread like "donald summers" However, I find it odd that "uber" draped a clean painters cloth behind the motor for the photo. I've taken a bunch of parts, wheels, engine shots and I've never had to use a backdrop for the photo. things that make you go hmmm......

I've done it before for stupid things, like trying to explain some custom part I built for a radio control boat. It helps to see the details, not just for presentation, but I kinda see ur point

The sound of that motor brings back so many memories. Loud and proud, hearing those valves a clacking. My father and I restored a 1966 912 back in the mid 70's. I got it when he finally sold it in 1981. I replaced the old Solex carbs because they just did not work as good after they were rebuilt. Put on some 40IDA Webers and the sound of the engine came alive, very similar to the video. Boy that ole four banger would rev and rev. It brings tears to my eyes.
