A great article on US vs. Canadian pricing for the same cars
http://www.canadiandriver.com/articl...fferential.htm
This is a CanadianDriver article. It basically explains why we're paying more in Canada for the same cars.

Its a bunch of BS. There was a great article in the Toronto Star a week or two ago on this very topic. The exchange rates in the past were more favourable for Canadians, but now that things are different the manufacturers are content taking us to the cleaners on the price we pay for our cars. They do all kinds of stuff to prevent ppl from going down to the US and buying a car there,.......that is BS. They should be the same price in Canada and the US (relatively speaking,........they cant adjust price on a daily basis, but a system could easily be put in place to keep the prices at relatively the same level on a weekly, or monthly basis IMO). The Star articile (which I have saved) pointed out how to get aroud this issue,...............and assuming my family does go ahead later this year with getting a new car,..........guess where we might be headed if the timing is right??????
What pisses me off the most is how the manufacturers try to give BS reasons as to why there are price differences. Bloody Honda would not reveal how they price their cars even,......for competitive reasons they claim. I thought better of writing in to the paper and blasting them as an example,......since I could use my TSX as a great example.

What I suggest is upping the content of Canadian cars or NOT FUCKING RAISING THE PRICE EACH YEAR! If they let it stagnate until the US prices catch up that would be better.

I think they look worse by leaving the large price gap (whoever the advantage is for) and giving weak excuses as to why there is such a huge difference in price. I skimmed the article you posted, but its a copp out excuse to justify the companies trying to save face by not lowering prices. How would lowering the price of a car (or keeping it the same price as the previous year), which has more features than the previous model, look bad???? That gives the impression of "more bang for your buck" does it not? The suggestion that the companies are just making up for years of favourable exchange rates in Canada is a total load of crap as well. How is that justifiable???
Manufacturers - Well,...........since Canadians used to get pretty descent prices on cars compared to the US (again, they should be more or less comparable),.............now that the exchange rates result in huge price differences,..........its ok to overcharge them for no reason at all,............we will justify it with smoke and mirrors,..........and we will put in place rules so our dealers cant sell to Canadians who come across the border looking for a new car.
The fact that they have rules in place to prevent US dealers from selling to Canadians is a clear admission the manufacturers are willingly and knowingly overcharging Canadians.
I went and found the article in my room (after some digging around). Here are a few comparisons (how much we get ripped off in Canadian dollars).
Acura MDX - $11,097
S2000 - $13,311
Prius - $7,737
Corvette - $18,372
911 Carrera - $25,078

We were talking about this in the RDX forum as well. I just find it strange that they would overcharge Canadians when fact is, we have far less disposable income than our US counterparts. Canadians buy compacts because its all most can afford yet we're forced to pay through the nose to get a something other than a compact. You would think that would hurt their business but apaprently that doesn't seem to be the case. Either that of they simply don't want to sell many of the car to Canadians.
The price differential may be why Acura may have a better image here in Canada than in the US?
All my friends said when I bought my car, "Wow ... an Acura." (Notice -- no blue colour in the font).
So when people roll in a S-class, 7-series or a Porsche, that makes them that richer. (And the price differential does NOT include the higher tax one pays north of the border!)
