All I can say is WOW! That thing is crazy!! The pickup is incredible! The coolest thing though is that since it is single speed transmission no matter how fast you are going or if you are cruising or whatever, you can just push the gas and it bolts off, no downshifting necessary. The regenerative braking and lack of power steering took a second to get used to, but once you floor the accelerator those don't matter anymore ![Too Cool](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/toocool.gif)
So who on Azine wants to give me an early birthday present??

Cool. I'd love to drive one. The tremendous potential and torque characteristics of electric motors has always intrigued me.

Let me help you!
I'm waiting for the Tesla sedan, but it doesn't come out until next year. I don't think I could get into the Tesla roadster's driver's seat or else I'd miss driving it when I go back to a slow car. lol

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
Love the idea. Once batteries can be made that can allow for a few hundred miles of driving, that will be one way to go.

I drove one at their "Corporate Showroom" (don't dare say stealership). WOW!!!! is an understatement. You hit the accelerator and your head yanks back. Let up and you start to slow without hitting the brakes.
It is low to the ground and can make a guy dream; however, it is very impractical not to mention $120k. The Tesla sedan is due out next year and the first production run is limited to 5000. The following year the production run will increase to 20,000.
There are still around 400 slots left according to the saleslady for the first run. Deposit is $5000; however, it is completely refundable up until you make your final options. The sedan will be an aluminum frame (not composite like the Roadster) and won't have that same gitty-up, but will still be impressive. The most important option on the car will be in how far between charges are you willing to pay - 225 - 350 miles.
If I were in the market for another sedan, I would seriously consider the Tesla S. As much as I love my RL, it was kind of a disappointment to drive home after feeling the exhilaration of the Roadster.

Midnight Marauder
Hey I just did this a couple of weeks ago myself! What a wonderful experience. I went to the Tesla dealer down here in San Jose, and they gave me the keys. What an incredible car. Its very different driving a car with no gears. But the acceleration was unreal, and the handling makes my friend's R8 feel like a land yacht in comparison.
On the negative side, the interior was of horrible quality. The door handles didn't even match on our car and the touch panel that displays battery life, etc, was loose. And the leather on the dash could hardly be considered high grade. However, I doubt anybody buys this car for the interior.
About the Model S, from what the rep told me, they already have something around 4500 deposits, so getting it in its first year will be difficult. But I think I'd prefer to wait a year to let bugs and what not be worked out first anyways.
