Got pulled over on the bike last night...

It was pretty nerve racking. Let me tell you all about it-

I'm driving home from riding with a pack of friends last night, i'm going home on I-4, about 2 AM, in the far right lane, doing about 75. I see a car riding behind me, and i'm thinking "why is this guy on my ass?". Then the blue lights go off. I'm like, fuck. For a second, i debated just dropping a gear, and hitting the high road, i doubt he woulda caught me, but i didnt feel like losing my life either. Why did i debate running? Well, because, technically, kinda sorta, i dont have my motorcycle license yet. (i know i know, save the sermon, i know i'm an idiot for that) just havent gotten around to taking the test yet. So the cop gets out, and he tells me he pulled me over for my taillight being out I guess the bulb blew out. I was ok, i ll fix it as soon as i get home, i'm only 2 miles from home. Then he asks for my license. Whew...I was honest and upfront with him, told him I didnt have my license yet, hadnt taken the test blah blah blah. He says ok, gimme your license anyway, i want to see if you have any warrants. Of course i come back clean. He says, "listen, you seem like a good guy, you werent doing anything stupid, and i appreciate your honesty with me". Go ahead, ride home safe, i'm not gonna give you any tickets, just make sure you fix the light. WHEW!! Honesty paid off last night.

I guess the moral is, dont bullshit the cops, just be honest with them. Most of the times when i've been honest with a cop, i've been either let go or a reduced fine. Everytime i've tried to bullshit my way out of it, i've gotten the full brunt fine. Well thats my story, if you guys need me, i ll be taking my motorcycle test!

Thats scary for not having a rear light. I mean its hard enough seeing a bike at night... glad he pulled you over.

And yes, being honest always worked for me too.

bro, my heart skipped a beat. it was pounding a mile a minute. but i weighed the pros and cons, and pulling over won out over possible death or felony eluding.

-Glad to hear that everything turned out good for you. If you're spiritual at all... someone up there loves you fool. Or you know... moderately tolerates you. HA!

-I bet if you had ran... you woulda ended up on one of those: "Worst Police Chase Videos" or whatever :P

To date I have gotten out of 7 tickets completely and significantly reduced fines 3 times from not being an asshole. Just sit there and look like you know you fucked up, and call them sir. Works like a charm. They see too many dickheads a day to deal with another one. I'm sure dealing with an intelligent, cohernat, & honest person makes them feel bad for you.
