Got my new car yesterday

2006 Honda Civic Si Galaxy Grey Metallic.
All i can say is I am in love. Being 17 (almost 18) this is like a dream come true. And before you ask I did have to pay for a fair some of it, my parents didn't pay for the whole thing. Here is a pic:

I will clean it up next weekend and take some pics. Had 10 miles when I got it and it already has 101 I am very impressed with the features, it has maintence minder like the TL (do all honda's have this now?) and the seats are very comfortable. I know the TL seats kinda hurt my back but the Si's seats are nice and comfortable. My only complaints are it sounds really ghetto backing up, like the zippy sound lol but I can live with that, and my only other problem is I have to break it in cause I really wanna hit some vtech I got a pretty good deal on it:

Selling price of Civic Si $20,340.00
3% Sales tax $610.20
doc fee $389.10
NC Tag Fee $69.00
Out The Door $21,408.10

Got it from Robert Miller of Asheboro Honda in Asheboro NC. The transaction went perfect and I can't recomend him enough.

Anyone Know of any good Si forums. I am on 8thcivic.com but people there are pretty childish and no where near acurazine level.

the new SIis a great car, but trading your o5 TL for one? not an upgrade at all, unless your trying to bank the extra money

Congrats! what kind of TL did you have before? I'm looking to potentially make this switch as well and I'd like to know how they stack up if you had a 2nd gen

That is subjective. Just because you think that does not make it true.

Performance.....MUCH better handling then a TL, and is an upgrade if that is your thing.

Congrats!!! That car is beautiful. If it were out when I was looking at my TSX, I might have given it consideration.

And might I add, you got that FAST!!! I remember a few weeks ago that you were looking at 6-Speed Accord but apparently you didn't get it. I thought there was a long wait on the Si????

And did you get the navi??

EDIT: And I agree. The transmission does make the car sound ghetto when backing up. My TSX does it too and it annoys me...

yea i was looking at that accord and even offered the guy 18K for it. Then thanks to shoofin I found out it had been in a wreck and he bought it for 20K not the 23K or something that he said.
Link: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...5&page=1&pp=25

This is when i realized F**k used cars and started looking at si's. I then emailed ever dealer within 100 miles and Asheboro was willing to sell it to me at the old $300 less msrp and take $200 off. No other dealer that had an si comming in would match that so I had my choice made for me.
And no navi....yet I am thinking about getting the Pioneer Avic Z-1 i dunno i really like it the way it is.
I am glad I got an Si instead of an accord, thanks again shoofin

Congrats. I love my new 06 civic. I traded an 05 TL for the Civic LX and could not be happier. I bank alot of cash, averaging 34 mpg of regular, and my ins dropped.

The Si is fast, enjoy.

Congrats! Damn, 3% sales tax....I wish! Currently 6% in NJ, but they are thinking of increasing it to 6.9%. More ass-raping from the state of NJ....

Enjoy your new car!!

of course it has better handling, thanks for stating the obvious while we are playing captain obvious, i could say the TL has more leg room, fits more passengers, and has more trunk space, and thats an upgrade if thats your thing

luxury wise civics aint got shit on the TL, except maybe that psycadelic in-dash screen which is pretty cool. i would still never rock a civic though

Trust me, this sounds REALLY electric motor like - i agree with the OP - when i was about to test drive an si a while back, the sales guy was backing it out, and I honestly asked him if there was something wrong with the car (brand spanking new), cause it was just so loud and whiny in reverse. But who cares, when most of your time is spent VTECing!

Congrats OP! You're in for a treat!

I know what you mean....My car makes a high pitched whine when I'm backing up...The faster I go, the louder it gets. Almost like a siren winding up...

Well, since you are the one making the moronic blanket statement of the Si being a step-down as a car from the TL. It may be a step down for you, but that doesn't mean its a step down for everyone. Its all subjective to what you're wanting in a vehicle...hence my obvious handling statement.

And add Navi to the Si....its has plenty of gizmos and gadgets to match the TL with minor exceptions of rain sensing wipers and DVD-Audio to name a few. Oh and leather...big deal.

And thats great that you would never rock a civic, we all give a giant happy two shits about that...not really, seeing as this isnt a thread about you or your car.

As far as I know, the TL doesn't have rain sensing wipers unless they got them for '06.... someone wanna' confirm that?

Beautiful car! I really like the new Si's. My Accord doesn't sound like that when backing up, I just think it's 4cyl japanese engines with the manual.

Not all Hondas have the maint. minder yet. The major Hondas like the Civic and Accord, and CR-V all have it for 06, but the Element I know doesn't.

I think that's a perfect car for someone your age. It's fun, it looks sweet, and it's good on gas. Not to mention it's also brand new and is a very safe car (at least according to the crash test results).

Yes and it has their new body structure technology

ACE body structure incorporates a front-end frame structure that absorbs and disperses crash energy over a larger area. ACE increases Civic Hybrid passenger protection, and makes it more crash-compatible with vehicles of differing ride heights.

Very nice choice going with the Si. I got one back in December and I love it. I now have 3600 miles on it and have no complaints. Congrats!
