Got the 05 RL brochure...Some surprises
I know this is not the RL forum but lots of people (including myself) were cross- shopping the RL. Plus some of the new things I found in the brochure apply to the TL as well. I haven't listed things that were previously known such as SH-AWD or the Keyless Access System.
So I got a copy of the 05 RL brochure thinking that there wouldn't be anything new compared to all the info out already. Some pearls though...
More detail how the MID calculates service intervals.."the RL bases service needs on how the vehicle is driven - not just how long. It takes into account factors like weather extremes, stop-and-start traffic and frequent short trips in determining required service. This system helps group anticipated services to help avoid multiple trips to your dealer's service department." I assume that the TL system is similar...sheds a little light on our "black box".
XM and OnStar service get a free 12 month activation compared to our TL's 3 month service.
Door handles are lighted.
The new computer system alerts you to many new things. Instead of the check engine light coming on without additional detail, the screen displays messages such as your gas cap needs to be tightened. Also, it displays reminders automatically for when you have scheduled service appointments with an Acura dealer. Plus, if there are any new service campaigns or recalls that affect your vehicle, you will receive a message that will describe the campaign as well as tell you if the recall is urgent or if you can schedule things at your convenience. All this is automatically updated by satellite feeds.
The rear seat headrests can be remotely lowered (a-la Mercedes). Why couldn't the TL get this? Our rear visability stinks with the rear headrests up.
Front passenger gets power lumbar support also.
Aside from mirror, seat and climate settings linked to the driver's remote, the RL also links Radio and NAV preferences.
