dude i felt the same way, thinking i was gonna break it. just pull straight down. it'll come out...but yeah, it is a weird design. i don't like seeing plastic flex like that...

i've only tried the skelton housing for the outside. i'm going to do the encased one for inside the vehicle.

btw I need to wash my car so I can try this outside of car... I'm kinda scared to put it outside though. Would it hold in place well, even if I do a hard canyon run? What do you think?

One question, most of my in car videos have this rattle noise. My car itself doesn't rattle at all. Is there any quick fix for that? I think it's inside GoPro.

Another noob question.

So, I think I shot my vid with 720p. Just uploaded this first video and I can't view it as 720p. Is there any upload setting?

I've never uploaded anything on Youtube before.

I tried the suction cup mount on the inside of my car. Mounted it to glass and the thing fell off! No way in hell I'm mounting it to the outside of my car until I figure out what I did wrong!

copied from gopro site.

"Attach your GoPro camera with this industrial strength suction cup to cars, boats, motorcycles and more. Proven at speeds of 150+ mph. Strong enough to pull dents out of a car door (unfortunately tested and proven by GoPro) or stay attached to an airplane at 200mph+, proven though not endorsed by GoPro per FAA rules."

idk what you did wrong. clean the area you're mounting it to, put the suction cup in place, pull back the lever and press down the button. done.

you can see in my video, i got up to 100mph and the camera didn't even shake. it never shakes, thats why i like this thing so much...very stable.

Huh? It's freaking strong once you mount it properly.

Might have missed a button press there somewhere...

edit: okay I just tried it on a glass table top and I see the huge "PRESS" button. You actually press the button first though, since pressing it after lifting the lever seems impossibruh.

It says to use the skeleton door if mounting on a car in the dry and for speeds under 100mph. If you're over 100mph, than they recommend putting the sealed door on.

I use the skeleton door for most applications right now..

Thanks for this thread. Ordering this week for car duty. I use a stickypod with an hd camcorder with SD card and the setup is just too wobbly; I think the camera is simply too heavy for this application. My vids are less than ideal as a result. Will therefore give this a shot.

I got my HD HERO2 Motorsports kit yesterday. I used my AmEx points to get it from Amazon so it cost me nothing. I also bought the head strap. I tried the camera, mounted to the head strap, in my first video. I found the picture quality "meh" compared to my Canon handheld HD camera. Then again, the darkness in the garage at the beginning of the video did not help that cause. It's better in the light, but picture details seem a little washed out. The sound quality is similarly "meh". However, the head strap mount means no vibration like in my other videos, so I'll take it. Tell me what you think....

My first GoPro video....note the use of my new S2T paddle shifters.

My friend bought a gopro but he's decided to just sell it. It's brand new. He didn't even open the box. If anyone is interested in it, PM me. I was going to post it in the black market but wanted to give you guys about this first.

Finally picked one up last week. Got it for $270, no card. But got a 16gig Class10 card for $20, so not bad. Two quick questions:

1) What are you guys using to edit? Like Shoofin, I found the GoPro software lacking when trying to edit the boring parts out of the video. I downloaded a free editor called Freemake Video Converter, which seems pretty good. Easy to trim and convert. Wasn't sure if there was a better option out there.

2) What kind of hardware are you guys editing on? My old laptop cannot process the 1080p videos, so had to reduce to 720p for now. I am due for a laptop anyway, and was thinking about an UltraBook. I'm guessing that would be sufficient for basic editing?

Also, are you guys uploading large files to YouTube? I have a 10 minute video (720p) and it's almost 290mb...

I upload to YT. I dont know if its my computer or what, but if I add a title or description while its uploading, it will fail. So I let it upload completely then do the title/description/tags.

Fiance bought me a GoPro Hero2 Outdoor edition, since I my intended purpose was for mountain biking. Now looking at suction cup mounts but at $29 for the GoPro mount, its giving me seconds thoughts. Any one use non GoPro/universal mount with the optional tripod camera mount?

I'll say this... Motorsports Edition came with the suction cup mount and that thing is fantastic. Great grip and "sticks" to pretty much anything.

I actually bought the roll bar mount for kart racing, but too much vibration passes through to the camera... so going to return that and just use the adhesive mount on my helmet...
