Is this a good deal?

I am considering taking over this guy's 2005 M3 6 speed lease. He has 9 months remaining at $999/month. He is offering me $1200 to take over the lease and also willing to pay half the transportation costs. Effectively the payments would be 849/month. I would have to pay the lease transfer fees.

The carfax report came back fine, and of course im going to have the car inspected before making a move, but assuming everything turns out fine, would you jump on this? I have the cash already set aside for these 9 months this so there is no reason why I wouldn't be able to make these payments

This is a closed end lease. and I can average about 1200 miles per month.

Have you considered an 02-03 M3? There are so many for sale! You can get one in the 29-35k range.

Yeah I entertained that idea, but I am just looking for something short term for the time being. I like the feeling of being in something I want and at the same time not having to feel i'm locked in it for a long period of time since I would be able to pay it off anytime I get ready.

Mind showing me where you have read that the M3 has electrical issues?

Plus BMW has free maintenance and im assuming his lease will end before that expires.

$10200 is an awful lot to spend on a car that you would not even be keeping for a year, and would get absolutely nothing out of. I reckon the monthly payment is a tad too much. If you already have the 10g like you stated, I'd wait for a few more months to amass more $$$ and then put the 10g down on a used 02/03 M3 that can be had for low 30's. Its an M3 and will undoubtedly hold its value very very well.
