Might as well get used to checking in with the boss.

Seriously though, she might appreciate that more than you think, and give you an idea of her preferences so you don't screw up again.

Also, have you driven the alternative cars you mentioned? IDK if you want to deal with the higher noise levels of the Mini for 2500 miles/month, for example. The Accord and Maxima are going to feel floaty after the M3, etc.

how about a 335 or a 535. That way you still have the luxury, power and room. Plus insurance will be less since it's in a different category than the M3. Btw are you going to trade in or private sale?

Three Wheelin'
The difference was minimal for me- my insurance went up $36 per 6 months when I went from a 335 to a M3. But I did go from a coupe to a sedan, I don't know if that makes a difference.

Instead of the Cooper S get a Clubman S

You spend lots of money, not time with whores. "Me love you long time" is always a lie.
Whores are more acceptable than mistresses to wives because its all about the allocation of emotion and attention. A "fun" car is just like a mistress and your wife will consider it competition. Always spend more time with your wife than the car. Never give your car a female pet name, "Christine" is very, very bad.
Clubman S comes later after the kids are raised and you finally want to come out of the closet.
Oh btw, V6 Accord or TL would be my choice.

Boys -
First, let me say this to those who will say I'm giving up my balls.![Mad Fawk](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/madfawk.gif)
I'm getting engaged to an unbelievably awesome woman who I want to provide the best possible life for. She has not asked me to do this, but I know she never agreed with the purchase of my car and was deeply saddened when I went against her advisement and purchased it anyway.
That said, it does not bother me the least bit that I've started to willingly look at my options on how I can maximize joint happiness. Amongst other non-monetary things in my life, I've decided to give up on frivolous spending - so I want to get rid of my M3.
So, I need your help on recommending what I should be looking for. I'm open to leasing or financing if the rates are low. I'm also looking for a car that will be usable under all weather conditions.
Thus far I've come up with the following in my head -
Mini Cooper S
Honda Accord V6 sedan
Infiniti G37x sedan
Nissan Maxima
Acura TL (as long as the transmissions don't still suck)
This decision will clearly make it acceptable for me to have a Porsche 911 by 40.
Your thoughts?

There are many great choices in the mid-30's.
- 335i or 328i if you want to save a few bucks
- G37, 328i money with a less then 335i acceleration
- 1-2 year old CLK, great value, just depends if you like the car itself(same is true of the E class, they are a steal on the used market)
- Older, low mileage P-car
- Older, low mileage SL
- Few year old Infiniti Mxx, great value on the used market

Drifting
Don't get a tiny ass mini, no man should own one. A 335, G37, TL, Legacy GT(not spec b), etc... would all be good replacements. All of these cars have good performance, and one thing I'd be curious about is were you really getting the performance benefit that comes with the M? Most people buy them just to drive them to work thru traffic at 35 mph.

Like we're looking at upgrading my place. I want to live in a city highrise doorman building, she wants the suburbs with a backyard and grass.
Love the girl to death and she has a point. I like doing what I want and I'm always persistant in being convincing. The car purchase was a big deal to her because it was the icing on the cake on how I'm horrible at compromise.

Because we're doing things together now and I supposedly never take no for an answer - which is rather true. She said no, I bought it anyway so she feels like everything I do is to defy her. I always try to "reason" with her as to why my way is the right way.

She still married me and I take her opinions and input seriously. Otherwise, I'd have had a new car in the drive way

Here is another way to reason...do you have any other big hobbies? Anything else you drop big coin on? if the answer is no then you got her...its the one thing you spend money on that is part of what makes you who are you and and one of the things that empowers you and makes you happy.
Keep the car get her the house.

Maybe i'm not reading what's happening here so well, but what exactly is the reason as to why you need to sell it? ![Confused](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/confused.gif)
You're driving a great car, and it's nice that you're willing to compromise to make her happy....but take it from me, you also want to make sure that you yourself are happy too. It's your car, you are going to be the one driving it every day. I don't know you to know how flexible you are with what you drive, but make sure you're going to enjoy it. If you say you can trade it in for almost what you paid for it, then do it. Otherwise I would ride it out and enjoy what you have. Your car is like your job. If you don't like what you do, you'll be miserable while you're there. Same thing goes for a car, IMO..![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
Side note, if you're doing a lot of driving and want comfort, as good as the fuel economy is, do NOT get a Mini, especially with the Sport Package. Not hating on the car, I happen to love it (it might be my next car, but in JCW form). MAYBE if you do decide to get it, stick w/o sport if you want to keep all your teeth.![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
2 examples of my wife hating but then loving:
Picked up my bright yellow Scion xB in April 2005. Wife thought it was hideous. It took her a month to get her in the passenger's seat. Then realized how practical it was and how well it suited me, she preferred to leave her BMW home and go in the Scion. Now after selling it she occasionally tells me she misses it.
Picked up my S2000 in August 2006, wife didn't believe me that I was getting it, she thought I was kidding. It was when I brought it home that she realized I wasn't kidding. She didn't talk to me at all that weekend. All it took was one ride, and she was in eternal bliss. My eyes would light up when she would say "let's go out, but can we take the convertible?"
Do what's right. But most certainly don't do it only for her. I might not be married for a very long time (5 1/2 yrs), but I know that much.
