Girl at work blasted the side of my car!
It was quitting time and we were all leaving. I saw it unfold right in front of me. I was maybe 75 feet away ugh. Co-worker backs out (she's parked in the cargo zone by shipping and receiving) not looking and gasses it, so I yell and run towards her, she didn't hear me of course, and bam takes out my right front fender, sratches up my door skin. The fender is pushed in so bad, the tire stopped her.....
She called her insurance last night and I'm waiting for the claims specialist to contact me.
Is my car unlucky or just cursed? Within 8 months of ownership I've gotten a speeding ticket, towed, and now an accident.

Within a year I've gotten 3 speeding tickets, 8 parking tickets, and been the victim of a hit & run. Could be worse.
On the bright side, it looks like you might be able to get away without needing a new door skin. How deep is the scratch?
It just sucks when you take such good care of something, and it gets damaged by someone else's negligence. Hopefully it all works out.
Don't forget to collect for depreciation, and next time, don't park next to the womenz
Good luck, man.

the damage isn't to bad to the car, a quick polish and maybe repaint of the door + a new fender and paint. Maybe 1200 dollars for all of it. Be sure to claim diminished value as well!
Just be sure the shop that does it can match the grey paint properly! As well make sure they leave the covers off on the motor bay when you go to pick it up. Make sure all the screws that fasten the fender on have been painted and don't have rough, unpainted edges!

Defined space. I almost never park there either since you know UPS, Fed Ex trucks go in and out all the time don't want to risk it. But I left at 4:30 to grab something and when I came back I parked there since it is a closer walk from my office. My car got hit at 5pm!!
So when I speak to the insurance adjuster I just say the car's value will now be diminished since it's less then a year old, further compensation is necessary?

A car's value will be diminished regardless of age, but I dunno how they come up with a number.
If they give you a list of shops, clarify whether they're recommended or mandatory. Some insurance companies will only pay out an estimate at their own shop if you choose to take it somewhere else, so if more damage is found during the teardown, that's on your dime.
If it's just "recommended", but they're paying the final bill either way, start visiting shops.
Oh, and rental. Try to get in a car that's at least the same size as the G35, an Accord or something. They'll probably try to get you into the smallest, cheapest car they can.
If you can, maybe stop by the shop where your repairs are being done, or ask for a daily update on the progress of the car. A good shop should be able to explain everything that they're doing to your car.
Good luck!

Sucks man. I would've been pissed.
Hope everything works out with her insurance company and the repair shop.
The last two times my TL was in the shop, I got stuck with a PT Cruiser rental. They told me it was the only car they had left...

That's illegal, at least here in California. He should be able to take his car anywhere he wants, whether they like it or not.
Getting stuck with a PT Cruiser rental should be illegal. At the very least it should be a felony.

Wow, sorry bud!
Get the promise in writing that her ins. company will provide a rental.
Also, diminished value relates really to the value of the car if you go to sell it and have to disclose to the buyer that it has been in an accident. If you would have to knock $1000 off due to the wreck, that's the diminished value. Not sure of there is a formula for determining that, though...

Tomorrow getting dropped off at the body shop. Monday, the appraiser from my insurance company will be in to do an appraisal. I want an OEM fender. Body shop said they'll have to blend the hood too and repaint the door skin. Their estimate is at $1750. Am I going to have to pay my deductible and wait to get reimbursed? I really hope I don't. They figure my car will be done Friday the 25th if they get the approval to start Monday or Tuesday.
Not to mention I'm taking a trip next week. So the timing is fine I won't need the car anyways.
UGH!

I completely agree you, on both counts. But I've heard of it happening

if they don't offer that, you can take her to small claims court for the amount that came out of your pocket due to her negligence.

A lot of insurance companies don't base the rental on what size your car is or what it's worth -- they base it on a certain amount of monetary coverage and/or timeframe for driving a rental. Meaning, they limit the number of days or the amount of money they will shell out for you to use a rental. So if you really want to fight and try to get into a bigger rental car (which they don't usually offer you), you will probably end up having to pay for its use at some point -- assuming his own car is in the shop for a while -- because the rental coverage will max out earlier than them paying for an small car.

best thing he can do is shop around for rentals. Like if you pull up to the Enterprise-rent-a-car, look at the offering they have on the lot. if you see a bunch of Cobalts and PT Cruisers, that's pretty much what you're getting at that one. Go to another rental place.

Eh, it's at the shop now. Her insurance accepted full liability which means I won't have to pay my deductable and my insurance can be out of the picture. The rep told me that their adjuster can assist me with the diminished value claim. It better not be some ridiculously low number (which it may be)......
